hi-bulgarian-friends-i-have-a-question-about-kukeri-v0-j0e3ah20wz7a1
What are anon's thoughts on this beautiful ancient tradition?

Twice a year, Bulgarians will dress up in costumes, usually resembling beasts or giant animals to drive out the evil and its evil spirits from the village. The origins of the practice are generally unclear but has been past down for centuries, likely dating back to the war the Bulgarians had with the Mongolians.

Highly revered, welcomed, and normalized. Yet, some on here may not think so. Thoughts?

Some photos from their tradition over the years. Any symbolism that you recognize? It even bears some resemblance to Mari Lywd from the Belgian region

Very cool and effective furry magic. If it works, then it works. Not much else needs to be said, really. Make to sure get a bunch of Sunlight, everybody, just don't burn. Peace out!

is this related to the "Krampus festival"?
japan also has an almost identical tradition...even Benin vodoo ritual costumes look rather similar to this.

they was a time were a predator existed but certain hairy animals keep driving them away. upon seeing that, humans imitate them with these costumes to drive the predators away as well
