On August 4th, 2024, this flyer had reportedly been delivered to thousands of households globally overnight. It didn't take long for the strange nature of the flyer to spark an investigation. People wanted answers on what this was.
After some digging, the stone man on the flyer turned out to be a statue in Loughborough, England named 'The Sockman'. It depicted a bronze statue of a man with a sock on one foot. It was a seemingly normal work of art, up until the backstories of it were uncovered.
A private investigator from the UK, who also happened to be independently working on this case, came out to reveal and old police report dating back to 1928 (70 years before the creation of The Sockman). The report read that people from Loughborough had received letters in an unknown language, consisting of open squares, lines and dots. Some letters also had the faint resemblance of a visage of a face. On top of that, multiple circular holes were randomly discovered throughout The town. And inside of the holes, what looked to be the same language on the letters, were carved into the interiors of the holes. Not much else had been discovered until multiple young children from the town had proclaimed they knew who dug the holes. According to the report they said, "Twas the Great Stone man with a sock upon one foot. He was the one who did dig the holes."
Also, current people from the town had recently claimed that The Sockman sculpture had mysteriously vanished one morning. Before any reports could be made, it reappeared in the same spot the next day. Some people say it was probably just some miscommunication of construction work, while others think it was something much deeper.
Whatever lies behind this statue, some kind of cult, or something paranormal, things just don't add up. If you have anything or any story that may help add-on to this case, feel free to let it be known.
