Between the ages of sixteen and twenty, I experimented quite heavily with LSD. I'm twenty-four now and only partake perhaps once or twice a year. There was one particular experience during those earlier years that has stayed with me due to its intensity and peculiarity.
After taking two tabs one afternoon, I experienced what felt like a fairly typical trip that lasted from around noon until late in the evening. Eventually, I parted ways with my friends and went home, hoping to get some rest. As I laid down and closed my eyes, I was still seeing vibrant visuals, typical CEVs. But then, quite suddenly, the visuals shifted.
What replaced them was a dark field, similar to eigengrau, but punctuated with intricate, Mandelbrot-like geometric patterns. It was unlike anything I had previously encountered. The most surreal aspect was that I felt as though I could “navigate” through this space by subtly moving my eyes, as if I were piloting through a visual dimension.

Picrel is a rough visual I put together in Photoshop as a quick mockup.
