I keep coming back to this. Something is very "off" about it in multiple ways. It feels fake, but it lines up with other experiences that are real. I'm becoming convinced that there was a "real" basis for it but it was highly embellished.

It does seem strange that her 'delusions' and 'hallucinations' brought her to a psychoanalyst. What would you say schizos need instead? I know some think schizophrenics are enlightened but most of them seem to be going through extreme suffering

According to the dsm most mental illnesses are only a problem if they negatively affect daily life. So I’d say people who have a handle on their schizophrenia are fine but should see someone if they want to. But if they don’t and it’s fucking with their lives then they should def see someone.
The problem is they might not recognize it is fucking with them.
