The photo was taken, what is behind on the vinyl is an accurate representation of them.
When they wanted to put the same picture as the cover of the vinyl, they noticed it didn't "pop out", so they brought it someone to fix that.
This person increased the contrast, crushed the blacks, and fixed Roy's skin color by pushing the reds, and they were happy that now it pops out (enough to be some anon's favorite to ask for a cutout) but the original colors were destroyed (light yellow pajamas, orange skin, and blueish grey shoes) in a way that can't be recovered because it's like trying to "uncompress" a song that has been made louder by killing its dynamic range.
Light grey tones in the pic actually look pink now, you can check with a color picker, they look light grey because your brain knows it's a color temperature that makes them looks like that and compensate.
On picrel both cans are the same color but your brain sees them red or blue.
