Jesus is a great teacher to learn from , but holy moly does christianity have a lot of baggage and contradictions but I agree the overall vibe of Jesus matches what I would be looking for. I just don't like the institutional elements.

If you want my opinion, I think the new testament documents make a greater claim to supernatural godly events than anything else, including the assertion that the Jesus figure is God incarnate

1 - there are many traditions that say this, and then immediately say "and ours is the truest of this understanding".
2 - there is a great deal of ego I voted in saying "I can say what is true and what is not in all of these religions"

Like many subjective things, the general populace sees experts break and subvert "rules", and think any person can ignore them. When it is about being so expert at the rules that you know where and when they can be transcended.
