post stories of strange happenings that don't really go anywhere
>be me
>boyscout
>hiking to a big cabin innawoods with some basic amenities to learn some basic things
>older scouts leading us to cabin along a clearly marked trail
>scoutmasters are further back watching some of the younger scouts go behind a tree
>we arrive at a clearing about halfway to the big cabin we're all staying in
suddenstop.jpeg
>biggest scout, Jake holding his arms out blocking us from going forward
"are we waiting" one of the guys i didn't know asks
"no, look at that tree" Jake says pointing at a dead tree in the middle of the clearing
"just a tree" Phil says walking towards it before stopping in his tracks "oh I see it now"
I had to squint my eyes to see but there was a heat haze radiating from the tree, like the kind you see in the desert
>one of the braver scouts walks up and touches it with the palm of his hand
"feels like a normal tree"
>we all just stood around the clearing entrance while some of the older scouts paced around the tree looking it up and down
>eventually scoutmasters catch up and seem as dumbfounded
>one suggests it might be about to catch fire
>other thinks it's cool to sit around and watch and wait
nothinghappens.jpg
>get back on the trail after a good half hour of nothing
>go to cabin
>lights out
>everyone wakes up borderline dehydrated
>lines form behind the sinks instead of the kitchen like usual
>everyone contently sipping from water bottles and canteens for the rest of the campout
>fast forward to the last day and nobody is thirsty anymore
>go back on the trail to the parking lot and the weird tree in the clearing is gone without a trace
>everyone confused but shrug it off,
>scoutmaster says it must've turned to dust completely and blown away
sometimes we would joke about the "sacred native tree of dehydration"
here's one of my dad's
>be my dad
>young
>finds an apartment in vermillion
>finds a girlfriend, my mom
>hears sobbing at night, too tired from dayjob to investigate
>invited a college friend to visit, he stays the night due to car troubles
>friend wakes up in the middle of the night hearing a baby crying
>one day my dad invites my mom over
>she's the kind of woman that sleeps on the couch instead of in my dad's bed
>she wakes up in the middle of the night
>face to face with a transparent woman looking down at her
ghost.jpeg
>mom is too shocked to move or say anything
>suddenly is overcome with an immense wave of sorrow and grief, like if she watched her dad die again ten times over
>ghost lady fades out
>mom falls back to sleep
and that's all there really was to it, my dad could never find information of that apartment's previous occupants of the apartment
I have a distinct memory as a child of lying in my bed ready to fall asleep when i hear my name called by my great grandfather.
his voice was warbled an distorted and it shocked me, i called for my parents asking if it was them calling out my name but they denied it.
later that week my mom came to me and told me that my great grandfather had passed away and we were going to his funeral in a few days.
I was never that close to him but I know for a fact it was his voice, I never told my parents because it was impossible for him to be there and i didn't want to upset them after I found out he died.

one day in elementary school, on a seemingly normal day, i was writing something about the magic treehouse (i think a summary) and out of the corner of my eye I saw a cat walking along the desks across the room from me.
This completely shocked me because, what was a cat doing at my school?
I watched it jump off of the desk and vanished as it hit the ground, I turned towards my classmate Rebecca I think and her jaw was a gape and she asked if I saw that too.
She asked me if we should tell the teacher what we saw and i bluntly said, what's she going to do about it, and the subject ended there.
I told my parents about it and they were amused.
never bothered to greentext before so giving it a shot now, probably sucks
got a story about weird appalachian woods stuff, or just me being retarded once again, not sure which but probably both
1/3
>be me, 10 years old
>bumfuck appalachia
>late summer but hadnt been outside very much lately due to irl issues
>bored & a little depressed
>thinking i can distract myself near the creek behind my house
>there is a wild blackberry bush next to the water & i was 1 of 3 people who knew where it was there
>went over the hill to fuck around in the water & enjoy some of the good food nature was offering
>i approach the bush
>its empty
>local woodland inhabitants took what i claimed in my head was mine
>more bushes up the hill & in a nearby field, but those are well known by other people & too close to my bush to be ignored by trash animals
>plan was ruined
>or so i thought
>had a brilliant idea
>whole area has blackberries & lots of other wild shit
>hadnt been exploring across the creek to the southwest very much
>i can find embark on an adventure & find something to eat at the same time
>was in a gifted class for a reason
>make my way across the water
>on the other bank was another hill
>i had been there before but not far beyond
>too steep to stand
>covered in bushes & massive thorns but nothing edible
>only way southwest was to crawl through it
>was never as big as other kids my age so squeezing through without too many injuries was easy
>at the top, looking down the west side
>no berries
>other slope not as steep, an easy walk down into the woods
>dense trees but still very bright
>felt pretty cozy
>i went over half a mile
>still nothing good to forage, just leaves & vines
>consider turning back but distract myself with exploring this part of the woods for the firs time
>urge to go home persists
>its nothing
>there is no danger, just unfamiliarity
>go further
2/3
>continue observing different types of trees
>checking under rocks for bugs
>not worth it
>i need to leave
>im not allowed to be this far from home
>dont know why i feel like this
>no animals, no people, still enough light coming through the trees to not be spooky
>why am i still scared?
>theres nothing around me to cause harm
>nothing
>thats the problem
>havent seen a single animal
>no birds, no squirrels, no deer
>had neighbors, none of us bothered to keep our animals contained because they never caused trouble
>didnt even see a dog
>didnt hear anything either
>cant hear birds & no weird bug noises
>woods should be screaming like a jungle
>even the trees are quiet
>no leaves rustling or any wind
>take a moment to listen for anything
>can hear my own pulse in my head
>nothing else
>im the only animate thing here
>makes me feel seen, like too much attention
>was never afraid of speaking to crowds but it felt like they saw me doing something embarrassing
>was i being watched?
>was everything else just gone?
>check for anything nearby
>just more foliage & rocks
>again, its not too dark to miss anything
>look everywhere
>same shit
>if something is here i cant see it
>dont like that at all
>i start crying, but quietly because im not a complete bitch
>fuck off in random direction
>constantly looking everywhere
>hoping to see it coming
>whatever it is
>going deeper into the woods
>didnt care, just needed to get away from this
>probably looked schizophrenic, always checking behind me for invisible shit
>dont know how long i was out there but it took too damn long to find a road
>expected a field but i wasnt payiong attention to where i was going
>i know im west of home, the road is north/south
>turn right & go north
>too scared to walk near treeline
>walk in middle of the road
>several minutes pass & i see small fields but theyre more like clearings
>fields have cows & a couple are gathered near the fence
>seem interested in me
3/3
>once im far enough to have fields on both sides, i realize where i am
>neighbors farm
>road goes between fields, his house is near the trees
>decide its not worth bothering him, im safe in the middle of the road
>see more cows in both fields
>all of them standing next to the fence
>weird
>maybe its not because theyre interested in me
>as i go through the farm the road curves right to the east
>at the end of the farm, there is an intersection
>my house is to the south
>not too far, just a few minutes
>maybe 2 if i run
>but still dont feel safe
>fields end here & the road goes beck through trees
>thats too close
>still need to go home & get inside
>still not dark outside but sky is turning orange
>dont have much time left to get inside
>stay in the middle of the road & sprint back home
>still crying but not quiet anymore
>on my porch, taking time to calm down
>when i dont look too fucked up i go inside & spend the rest of the night in my room
>mom never asked what happened
>she never really cared
why did i lose my shit? always played in the woods as a kid, never chimped out like that. was i being stalked by a person or animal? ive heard stories about woods getting quiet when some kind of predator is near. but there wasnt anything dangerous in the area that i knew of. some claim mountain lions are not extinct on the east coast, like my fathers side of the family. they told me there was 1 in the kitchen early in the morning, their door never locked properly. if thats what was following me, why didnt it attack?. they dont usually attack if they know you can fight back, but i was a child with no supervision. my last theory: a person. but i was still a lone child. if it was a creep watching me why didnt they do anything? i mentioned i had some stuff going on at the beginning, grandfather died the year before & this was my first summer with nothing to do. was it psychological shit i had to deal with? maybe i was paranoid for no reason. would you worry about it?
>>40725526 (OP)I once had a predictive dream that was completely mundane, I vividly remember waking and thinking
>weird dream, that cant happen it essentially involved an interaction between two people at work when one had just moved and the other did not work there yet. one got hired and one moved back several months later. freaked me out at the time, but now Im more mellow about it. to my knowledge Ive had no other predictive dreams
the experience is quite short but i'll write it the same way i found out, also english is not my first lenguage
>be me, 8 years old
>My father tells me about a paranormal experience i had in our former house
>basically, he tells me about one time i was taking a bath and allegedly saw my mother and started crying like crazy
>[my mother isnt dead, but it was impossible she could have been in the house at the moment]
>never had any paranormal experience, so i just assume he made it up
>my brother is sitting at the table with us
>known that if it is a joke he wouldn't participate cause he hates my father
>mfw he backed up the story
>he says when he came back from school i was crying in a corner
>dont believe it, why would i freak out because of my mum
>the conversation ends there
>i forget it
>ffw 6 years
>im 14 years old in the middle of class
>suddenly remembering something
>remember about some friends i used to play with when i was 5-11
>they lived in the same house in which the doppelgänger thing allegedly happened
>remember being scared of the bathroom
>remember avoiding the bathroom or make someone wait for me next to the door
>remember one specific time i was shaking and had tachycardia because of being there
>at that time i didnt knew about the supposed experience i had
>no explanation for the constant fear i had
>going home after school
>my brother is drinking in the garden
>ask him about the story
>again, he confirms it
>he adds information
>"yeah, you were mad scared after that, you"ll always ask people to go to the bathroom with you, i mean, literally inside the bathroom or you'll start crying"
>remember all of that except the for the day i saw the ghost im the bathroom
my big brother and father both had paranormal experiences there, my brother mainly.
anyway its a weird and rather stupid story lol
I was lying in bed one night and happened to look over in the corner of my room. I thought I saw a black shadowy shape crawl across my ceiling. I was so alarmed that I immediately grabbed my phone and turned the flashlight on, but there was nothing there.
I was so freaked out that I ended up not sleeping at all that night.
>be me, at grandma's house
>dog
>teasing dog with a treat, trying to get her to do a trick
>hear grandpa say "don't tease her anon"
>grandpa passed away years ago at that point
>dog stops and looks around, clearly heard it too
I apologized and gave her the treat but she didn't even want it after that.
