Tantra is heavily ritualized and the yoga is aimed at invoking, becoming possessed by, or becoming a godform. They use mantras, yantras, ritual tools, sometimes sacrifice, transcendental meditation, and ecstatic practices to perform it. Tantra has a lot of different schools and practices that span Hinduism and Buddhism and is highly variant but the best way to recognize it is if the practice is ritualized. Western comparisons would be theurgy, shamanic god assumptions/spirit possessions, pagan ecstatic practices.
