Give me advice. What is the truth about existence? I feel lost. I don't have anything to hold on to. No sacred book. No teacher. No teaching that I firmly believe in. Just fucking lost. And it's wearing me out. I know I need to reach samadhi, but until then just try to give me some truth. I know there are serious spiritual seekers on here.

In Buddhist terms it's get mundane Right View -> get supramundane Right View -> get started with practices for samadhi.
My goal is to get supramundane Right View because it's the minimum bar for "actual" Buddhist practice and I want to be capable of being on good terms with the Buddhist world, I think they're worth learning to respect. The most of any Asiatic religious stream, besides maybe Taoism.

There are limits to what I can tell you, because it is forbidden to reveal certain secrets. But I think I can tell you this:

- The truth has been veiled in metaphors, since the beginning of history. All the various religions, and the myths, and the philosophers and the poets are basically talking about the same thing, just using different names and stories, and they may have different opinions on the truth, but they all agree about the fundamentals, because they've had a personal experience of the divine, which is the same everywhere and in every epoch.
- There is a big secret about God and eternal life, a terrible secret. I'm not joking when I say that acquiring this knowledge could shatter your mind. The truth isn't necessarily beautiful, it can be extremely ugly. Ignorance is bliss.
- You'll still feel lost even after you've learned the truth and met God. You'll feel worse than now.

There are different types of meditation, and some are much more effective than others; also, things that are not strictly meditation techniques, but related to them, and make the difference between success and failure.

Again, as with religion, there is an "exoteric" and an "esoteric" truth. If you want to learn the true methods, you're going to have to do a lot of research, or be lucky enough to meet a real master. But it's a dangerous path, trust me on this. There are dangers, mistakes and traps that you can't even imagine as a beginner, and which can easily ruin your life. Be very cautious if you're searching for the truth.

Sitting/standing/lying down completely still, breathing normally and not moving a muscle, and trying to be aware of all the different body parts, focusing on them instead of your thoughts. Or you can try to focus on the breath instead. You'll feel very relaxed and in tune with yourself, which is what I assume most people expect from meditation.

I used to focus on nothing, like the 112th method from the shiva manual from tantra, that sort of fucked me up a little didn't feel very good from that.
