Tlahuelpuchi stalks the nights of rural villages and has done so for thousands of years. They are shapeshifters that suck the blood of children. These vampire witches change into animals such as owls.

That isn't a vampire, it's a witch. They can also transform into fire balls, among something or other.
Also all the stuff about them eating unbaptized Children was planted by Missionaries to encourage baptisms and dates to after the conquest.
Missionaries have a fairly long track record of doing this in the Americas, by the way.

Though Mexico has other witches apart from the Nahuatl ones. The legends in the South usually say that they take off their skin to fly around as skeletons, for example.
The details around the myths do get quite gruesome. Maybe even the baby blood drinking part is true, though I frankly doubt it due to how the Ancient Mexicans regarded blood. More like a misunderstanding or even a deliberate perversion by the priests.

Interesting proposition. But I frankly doubt it.
First of all, 'corn demons' are not actually a thing in Meso-American mythology, there are/were gods of corn, but no spirits (much less the current western idea of demon). And I don't recall them ever levying curses upon things. At least as imagined by Europeans.

Continuing, pre-colonial Meso-American religion is very misunderstood in the popular imagination. People mostly just know they did human sacrifices and little else. Which then births mis-characterizations like "Meso-American corn demon"and the frankly stupid idea that the Meso-american gods were demons.
And for the record, if Meso-American corn demons cursed anything it would have been Spain, the Spanish, Christianity or the Hasburgs. Not the American continent nor the U.S.A.

Though if you really want a creepy pre-hispanic legend that isn't contmainated with western confabulations you should look into Nahuales. Another kino mexican monster (though this one is a guy) is Tukรกkame. Also pre-hispanic in origin.

That information was probably wrong.
Cacao is not a Herb, Cocaine is a compound synthesized from Coca leaves which are south American (and there's no evidence the Meso-americans knew about them), and coffee is not native to the Americas, it comes from Africa, neither is it a herb, either.

There's simply no evidence of blood eating in the pre-colonial traditions. It's inconsistent to the way Meso-Americans actually regarded blood, but very in line with the way Europeans viewed witches.
I then may have over-reached by blaming priests specifically, but I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to do so.
