How do I achieve full control of my mind? Is it even possible or will I always have thoughts blabbering about and I can only learn to ignore them?

Look into the CIA gateway experiment.
That whole thing is about ultimate focus, tuning your continuousness to a higher channel of vibrations

meditation stops this one. when you can shutoff that voice for extended periods of time, you'll probably experience ego dissolution. fucking beautiful and life changing. highly recommend. takes a lot of consistent work though

I've heard about it before. I guess I'll have to make time for it, thanks.

What kind of meditation? Will focusing on my breathing be enough?

You basically as a Westerner want 1-2 trains of thought and you should be basically thought-entrained to the Dharma. If you want a strong mind (rather than an empty one), practice discerning what is True or Good (Morally Speaking) about the trains of thought that you have, and try to cultivate the good roots. The object of this is to be in the World Spirit whenever you think. If you just want to meditate ask someone how to do that. But there is a virtue in strong and veridical trains/of/thought
