Dear Lord, please have mercy upon us. Please forgive us for our sins, even those who do not wish to receive your blessings, for we are only but children. I write this now, before you, knowing that I do so with both the expectation of ridicule, and likewise, with the egotistical hope of praise from anonymous people for my supposed humbleness, because I too am a child who wishes to be praised for my faults rather than my perfections. I am so sorry dear Lord, for all the terrible things I have done, the least of which is to seek affirmation from those like me, all of whom are below you, myself included. I cannot say such things without ego, without the hope that I am praised for my piousness, because I am imperfect, but I hope that you will see my pleading as earnest in spite of it all. I could do and say so many things now other than worshipping you and glorifying you and asking for your forgiveness, and even if doing so is a result of my own human desire to feel smarter and more enlightened than others, I ask that you please forgive me for this, and instead focus upon the small light in the dark, which is my praise of you in spite of my ego. The world is so cruel and so evil; not by your making, but through ours, because you gave us the gift of free will, which is to choose a fate of our own. Myself and many others have, at various points, chosen to undertake pursuits which do not glorify you, and for this I am eternally sorry. I ask once more that you please forgive me and my kind, and see the best in our actions, as I ask that you please forgive those who turn against you, seeing the best in their actions which are so often self-serving, because they only see goodness in themselves. Please do not give up on us my Lord, please lead us into your eternal light, and grant us the strength to overcome the demons which aim to prevent us from basking in your glow. I love you dear Lord. Amen.
