should I believe everything that is posted on /sci/ or should I always check /x/'s opinion first? I know some controversial things are posted on /sci/ as if they were facts, such as that the Earth is round, how much can I trust /sci/?

This is the dumbest board on the site and it's sad that you're seeking validation from it.

You shouldn't trust sci, Jannie deletes most of the science threads. There you'll find capitalist garbage and mars travel.

I think that /x/ is onto something though. They might now be 100% correct about everything, but neither are scientists, and at least they don't just plain ignore things that can't be explained with mathematics
