Jason Read is known to us here who discuss magic. He's done an episode with What Magic Is This. He's been brought up at least once on /omg/ by my memory. The Kitsune general too, although some anons there are ambivalent on his "Fox Magic" book. I can't be sure if he's the real deal. From bias alone, he seems like just another white larper digging in foreign bins. And he speaks almost haltingly in interviews. But who knows if he's actually legit.

For what it's worth you can find some of the core practices in his books mentioned/described in books by other authors claiming mao shan lineage. Also /fox/ is about as reliable as a source as the local crackhead

>some western guy who has mastered chinese folk magick
And for what it's worth, Jason Read is a bumbling moron. A bumbling moron can more or less relay legitimate source material with adequate proficiency. The question is whether he himself is legitimate. This is praxis better learned under a master rather than a book anyway.

>legitimate source material

Sounds like all you've got is a dislike of him as a person/archetype with no real basis for it

My basis? Lol OP begins by describing him as having "mastered" this shit, as being the "real deal". What's the basis for that promotional bullshit? Why are you simping for this loser? Are you Jason Read? Fuck you, loser.

"Real deal" as in relaying legitimate information which by your own admission the books do. Seriously, do you have anything other than rabid ad hominems?

Depends. Can this guy demonstrate the efficacy of his magic, or are we all just larping as anthropologists?
>seriously, Jason. Buy a fucking ad.

Ok so around 13:02 he says he's far from being a sifu or master, and that interview is about 11 months. Maybe something has changed since then, I don't know. But the OTO and Crowley connection is something I didn't know about. That's quite cringe.

changed? idk man... he's been interviewing from that same room for about 3 years
if you can't use your magic to change your material conditions, what's the point?
and we're not talking about transcendental "inner alchemy" type magic here
