Your notion of "knowing" isn't the same, as your current sense of knowing is heavily tied to your physical experience. This is why cultivating present awareness at all times is so important. It is ideal to have peak lucidity at death, this will allow you to act according to your will regardless of what experiences are thrown at you.

Also the archons are just "you" but that is a separate conversation.
