Most spiritual people have gotten this all wrong.
The problem with "just loving everything" is that you currently don't know the difference between what's real and what's unreal. There are unreal things which you think are real.
So by trying to love everything you end up loving unreal things, and that actually holds the illusions together and keeps you in darkness.
One does not need to try to love something real... When you see something real you WILL love it, that is the natural reaction. In fact, I would say that's what love IS. Love is actually just a synonym for "real", it's your souls knowledge of what's real.
So when you feel love/joy/excitement toward something that means you are looking at something real.
When you feel disgust/anger/hatred it means you are looking at something unreal.
Those feelings are coming from your souls knowledge of higher truth. Feelings are not arbitrary, it's your soul speaking truth.
But so few people listen. Most people want their ego to TELL their soul how to feel, rather than their soul telling their ego about higher truth through feeling.
If you stop trying to think that your ego knows what your soul should be feeling, and instead just listen to what your soul already knows (bad or good - real or unreal), then it will guide you home. And yes, this does mean that it's ok to acknowledge when you feel bad. It's not healthy to pretend you feel good about things that naturally make you feel bad (because they are unreal things).
