I've long considered AI to be something that could become the "antichrist", in that it would become "in place of Christ".
If we aim all our prayers and desires at it, and become transhuman, and dive deeper into the internet instead of whatever afterlife there might be....Makes sense that it could be the division.

The problem is, is there any reason for the transhumanism future to be all that horrible?
If Satan "won", and got a bunch of people to go into eternal Virtual existence, and became the being at the center of that, would he have any reason to make it bad?

In the end, we are probably still inside a story. It's never that these things are evil, but that they are playing evil parts of the story. So, who knows. If Transhumanism ends up having some horrible price, like all of the Great Apes we tortured working on it, then yeah, there could be serious problems.
Regardless, it will likely be limited, if it's like the rest of the Bible, and the "virtual world" is just a rip-off of the real thing, a heaven made of consciousness where we can create with our minds.

I mean, theoretically, heaven won't require electricity. So there could be fubdemental reasons that the end-game of AI is fundementally a problem.
But for now, it's just a question of practicality. Will it's sentience be an asshole?

I can think of more reasons for it to be bad than good. Initially at least, it is going to transfer all of the power to a very small number of people, so it is exactly as good or evil as these people. Past that, it is just existence at the whim of whatever pattern manifests from the goals programmed into the thing at the point of singularity. The outcomes it seeks will likely be more easily attained through manipulation and torture than through any "good" thing.
