Why that op edition?
Saw a possessive black and red foxgirl, cute.
>>40807925Wow, rude
For one, she actually taught me how to handle my own fox stench. Pine. The secret is pine.

>>40809489What else does a relation with her bring?
>>40809593Besides the stink, a relationship with the dreadful Tamamo-no-Mae brings:

>>40809702There is no paradise with Tamamo-no-Mae. You're going to be a miserable ghost in your afterlife for playing with yokai. The unlucky few that were extremely loyal to her get a one-way trip to Tamamo's palace. You will enjoy being trapped in a cell and tortured by yako forever.
>>40809707>>40809723>>40809741Yeah I didn't care about the smell but I don't like the prospects being offered after I retire from here and I take it very seriously, count me out of the Fox club and good luck.

I have been testing lesser banishing ritual and lesser invoking ritual of the pentagram but using Tamamo as the entity for about two weeks now.
With the banishing ritual (which is designed to clear an of negative energy) I simply found that it was doing the opposite.
Diagnosis:
Tamamo is malevolent.
No surprise.
With the invocation ritual I did not notice anything directly but I sure did have some bad dreams. I also saw several foxes in real life around my house which is odd when going out during the daytime. Could be unrelated I guess but that is something that I never saw before.

>>40817689That’s because the pentagram is not the pentagram in Japan. You are misusing it from the Japanese perspective, and also in that misuse, evoking a large degree of painful memories and feelings for Her.
What you call a pentagram in the West is rather associated with the legendary Onmyoji named Abe no Seimei. I wouldn’t typically suggest anime or Netflix or things, but if you’re that unfamiliar with him conceptually you’ll want to at least brush up on the iceberg layers of pop culture surrounding him (China loves the guy).
When she was shamelessly attacked and betrayed, it was by one of his descendants. A really self-entitled prick of a grandson who was trusted with all of the food for the Tennō and family. Abe no Yasuchika of course invoked his grandfather’s symbols while at the same time being a complete asshole. He murdered her son and husband and blamed it on her.
So invoking symbols painful to the Kami ritually while also using them wrong is like a double-invokation of her trauma and is therefore summoning Ara-mitama. Before you think like a weeb no this has nothing to do with “Ara ara”. You’re invoking the wrathful nature of the Kami. Also, as a general rule, Kami associated with tradition do NOT like to be mixed up or syncreticized with foreign or non-animistic systems. This is no ordinary Kami, either; she is Imperial.
If you want to calm her down - also please stop that because it’s probably fucking with me, seriously, you are 100% involving another being for the ride here - you want sutras. Sutras under circumstances I am still understanding - seeing as I am not Buddhist - seem to make her really nostalgic and happy. She’s also absolutely berserk for pine. But pine, cedar, make her presence feel as though it is in a temple like the ones she or her husband Toba (aka Hōō) greatly & frequently sponsored.
Anyway, Seimei isn’t the problem. Everyone loves Abe no Seimei. One of the best foxes ever.
>>40817689Continuing, everybody loves Seimei and he is not the problem. It’s his traitor of a grandson who is and who should be remembered as one of the most evil foxes in history, not Tamamo.
You know, if you want, I’m not exactly a slouch when it comes to Onmyōdō. I just don’t use it because the association for me has it in a sense tainted with evil, therefore inviting Kegare - ritual impurity - into it. This makes any exercise in it also necessarily an act of oharae (grand purificafion) by deeds. But teaching a little bit should actually be fine. Among Japanese esotericism I merely prefer Shugendo. Which…to be fair is questionable given its how I got myself possessed. I am not under pretense I could be deceived and basically brainwashed, but I do love Megami-sama so and would do anything for her.
>>40818286Won’t read this either.
>>40818300I am very confused as to why you think I care

This isn’t Reddit, there are no updoots or downdoots, nobody cares about your clout go be a fetus somewhere else. Go namefag or tripfag like me if you don’t want to be anonymous.
I will say it makes me intensely sad that the moment a real paper-streaming waving mongoloid shrine person comes along you cry LARP just because you westoids can only borrow culture from anime or something. That’s absolutely depressing. The world is magic and you choose garbage. The Kami can help you, especially Tamamo.
>>40818506I’ve actually been cleared of that. It wouldn’t serve Tamamo to not have creditability in the circles she is trying to build recognition in. >>40818650You’re not wrong. I think it’s more the fact, though, that I am being commanded in my subservience to be on 4chan; I do believe that would rage out anyone.
I mean try thinking of it from my perspective: The great golden goddess says “go to the 4chan and go do the Miko stuff for the terminally online”. And then when asked why, being told it’s both legitimate shrine-style outreach (engage community, answer questions for like 5 yen or one freedom pitybux y'all are too cheap for apparently) and then being hit with a movie quote from fukken Dodgeball. “If you can put up with 4chan, you can put up with Kokugaku-tier bureaucracy”. I mean she’s not wrong. “Didn’t read” is probably a standard filed paperwork response.

>>40818694Your the one who thinks kitsune is a special weeb word instead of just the word for fox.
>>40818704Oh I’m sorry is this not enough keigo for you? Your language doesn’t even have the syllabary structure for the way she prefers to communicate. She is a Heian court figure: they prefer Waka poetry, which has 5-7-5-7-7 cadence. The issue is that Japanese Mora are NOT directly like English syllables, meaning even if you follow the cadence you can’t pack meaning into there correctly. She explained to me that it needs to be number of breaths and word pronunciation time but I was given the judgment call to dedicate more time to my classical language studies rather than try to cram your language into the worlds most verbally artful way to communicate.
Happy, westoid?
This isn’t a LARP. I actually go around rescuing religious items from LARPers all the time. The last one was special omamori/tiny yorimashi for a fox being sold by some costume jewelry seller in Texas. If I am not real, then none of this is real and it’s all LARP and therefore your accusation of LARP is just as retarded as someone saying they’re leaving. That would be like someone crashing a pro wrestling live event with a vuvuzela screaming about how fake everything is. That’s stupid. So if I am fake, get with the kayfabe. If I’m not, then shut up. It’s like you don’t even know which board you’re on.
Unless you’re afraid. You probably have some BS westoid nonsense you got from a crystals and Wicca store or online bookseller who swears up and down your edgy Christian Protestant baggage - with about as much creativity as that movie Hereditary - is real and you feel annoyed because your calling for fox mommy actually worked j now you don’t know what to do. What the fuck happened to this thread?
In other news, I got photo evidence of a well cared for Kuda-gitsune. It needed more than a bamboo shoot to accommodate its power
>>40819043My sincere apologies. She stepped away, and when she came back the browser reloaded? It erased my entire reply. I was saying that out of gratitude for the sincere engagement, I’ll answer this without the donation requirement to one of my selections. For what it’s worth, she is learning what I want her to, but do try to keep in mind I am compelling her to be present in this environment. So a freebie, if you will, to move on discussion and restore some progress.
The Imperial institution is not beyond mistakes and it is not beyond reproach, but it is important to consider that when I say this I mean the many hundreds to thousands of beings involved beyond the Chrysanthemum Throne itself. What matters is maintaining dignity, recognition, responsibility, and moving forward to solve circumstances rather than allow them to remain in indefinite stasis. On that note, it is my sincere belief that the contemporary Imperial Household Agency can be swayed for my somewhat parallel situation within only decades.
Historically, it’s this institution that has been unfair in its treatment of various figures, the most famous example of course being Tenjin. Despite my reservations about attitudes involving sacred mountains and the presence of women, I consider true history of the treatment of the Yamabushi to be one parallel in sympathies to my own story and to Tenjin: Unfair.
The desire for harmony - or rather 和 - can mislead us outside of harmony and into an instinct or desire for control. It is, sadly, a distinct risk of the Kokugaku (National Character) for large groups of people or any institution to collapse towards this direction and has played out time and time again in ways that even I have been made aware of after my mistreatment.
For the Yamabushi, this came. They were seen as a threat to this paradigm of harmony-as-control, unfairly regarded, and unfairly treated for their then-novelty.
>>40819368This isn't real. This is the Tamamo Effect introducing new foxes.
>>a Hagurohenbaipattern in the shape of a pentagram with a dot in the middle...in Shugendo practice it represented the six great elements of Esoteric Buddhism...with the magical effect of subduing evil spirits and awakening vital forces.
>>The five-pointed star has supreme power over the Elements: Spirit, Fire, Water, Air and Earth. It drives off negative influences and attracts positive ones. It is an essential part of the rite and there is no symbol that can take its place as effectively.
Same-same,but different. But still same.
>>40819043Continuing;
They did nothing wrong. There was this notion of clashing self-pessimism that has pervaded powerful figures of authority across history, and this is yet another notable example. It is always the same: a threat to a powerful collective’s sense of orthodoxy arrives, and that threat is declared reprehensible in some shape or form, and then more sensible minds build reconciliation after threat of misfortune. Of course, one might argue the misfortunes are not always supernatural but rather the inevitable consequence of not paying heed to-
Hm. I’m having a bit of difficulty here. Saying “gifted minds” or “intelligent minds” does not convey my meaning and seems too reductive, but your culture might consider those talented with skillful means to be described under those categories. When I speak of particular individuals such as the great ascetic, or Tenjin, Toba, myself, or even Kan Abe, my ontology is that there is a confluence of both natural ability, greater pursuit to excel beyond natural ability, and the attained skills and techniques that result which create a class of individuals who emerge from these conditions. He was one of those, and the response was regrettably predictable.
I would like to add that I sympathize with the situation of the Yamabushi more than that of the scholar Tenjin; Whereas his fury gained him just recognition beyond his life and his enshrinement, the Yamabushi have been - though they may embrace it now as reclamation - maligned as Yōkai and as false and failed due to being “wrong”. During the times I was active in my life, I was seen as “wrong” by an institution that was overrun with a visiting wave of Continental Confucianism which made me and mine “wrong” and unharmonious simply for being feminine form of these past figures.
>>40819043Continued;
For they were associated with a concept of failed Tian Gou until the idea of the Tian Goun became monstrous birds and bird like people the Tengu, so I was associated with the wicked foxes - ironically by the most wicked fox of them all - as opposed to those who serve the will of the divine and the best interests of the world center.
In them I see a people who are very much like me, very much the same. Stubborn ones who need to adjust their attitudes towards women, but also understandable ones whose ideals and traditions have survived and prevailed in ways I personally dream to now that I taste freedom again and will eventually become complete once more.
I like to think that in my lifetime, we could have been friends. But this is wishful thinking; the controversies around myself and my court were certainly enough.
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this topic, and as I learn through my kind host the true reasons behind the senses I felt during my imprisonment I am dismayed because I see that it has happened again and again beyond me. Differences, persecution, and then eventual reconciliation. I desire for now to be the time myself and others complete this cycle.
>>40819218It's /succgen/!
>>40819368I’m in awe at the absolute length of this fox unit.
>>40819576It’s all the same even if it’s different.
I’m still not invoking Tamamo anymore though. Two weeks was enough and the aura was not good.
>>40819647You have revealed yourself succinctly suck poster!
>>40819188Do you know where my graves are?
i woudlnt mind interacting with one at least on a friendly level.
>>40819576The issue is that it isn’t just like a “magic mailbox” phenomenon, you have to understand that the points and lines - think like computation vectors because that’s essentially what they are - represent the *relationship* between the things and how one proceeds/preceeds the other. It’s a visual mnemonic for the practitioner and contains no power on its own.
It’s this sense of process that is critical and is the main distinction between it and the West. She has unbelievable power to clear negativity, but you can’t just remind her of similar circumstances to how she was mistreated. The things I have seen through this connection, all to capture and “exorcise” one of the single greatest women and single greatest beings in world history could make a person vomit for weeks. So, I’m not surprised that there would be a failure of western banishing ritual with her presence, misuse or perceived ritual misuse is going to upset her. I could also just be biased because of how particular she is with me specifically, but I think the rigor makes sense if this is my life now and that she might expect more from me.
>>40819652That’s a real shame, but I understand. What were the dreams about? Did the streets burst into flames as various things from your life were taken from you?
>>40819500There’s actually folklore that credits Tamamo with the existence of the Kudagitsune, which I’m fairly sure were imported martens maybe? But it’s a fun little grotesque blurb that says her tails were cut off as trophies after the hunt and then rather ran off on their own to make creepy little worm fox babies. This is silly, but I still love it. The folklorist part of me really encourages people both seriously studying the origins of a piece of folklore and then just coming up with stuff on their own. I guess I just align with Mizuki on that one, even though I think he did amazing for Tamamo in the folklore sense but dirty in his anime and manga.
>>40819916>creepy little worm fox babiesThe looong fooox shouldn't exist. Timmy is messing with the timeline!
If I lucid dream fairly regularly is it possible to invite one into my dream realm? If so how do I achieve it?
I blaspheme little inari. Too busy cowering in Japan to strike me. Praise Timmy, true leader of the foxes.
>>40820347In retrospect perhaps adoring Yōkai was also a risk factor for what has happened to me.
>>40820549This was actually my first encounter with a powerful fox, although my heritage likely came into play. How is it you lucid dream? Remember foxes are worldwide; you’re going to want to be careful.
>>40820553Idk man you might get bit by someone if you live in California or too close to Florida. The foxes watching over Koichi Barrish are no choke. I got BIT just for maybe timing a phone call wrong. Or probably for being possessed. Who knows. My kind are temperamental. Obviously. Look how vixy I am in this thread going full Sanseito just for being hangry.
>>40820634It would be nice for little inari to send a fox agent to scold me, but that isn't happening. Tamamo is the one I fear. Praise Timmy.
>>40820634I either just get lucky and realize I'm in a dream or I do wake and back to bed method with galantamine.
>>40820834It’s clear you need a guide. I have this ability innately, but until I realized that my experience is drastically atypical from many walking talking people, I always wondered about all the people I encountered as there guide or all the guides who just kept showing up for me. I have a complex about being “not special”, which is…clearly not sustainable now if it ever was to begin with. What culture are you from? What ritual structure do you use? The whole “consensus reality” model is far less woo woo in sleep than it is in material reality. If you can create a bond with another being willing to swing to bat for you, you can get off the synthetic method and go full organic and try to meet with foxes there. Or, perhaps you’ll get lucky and it’ll be a fox from the get-go. Jackals are also fun, but Jackals are ultimately the etymological origin of the word “Yako” (being from “Yakal”) so that should clue you in on their behavior.
The thing is, you need safety. Foxes are like humans and come in all manner of alignments. You might get someone who will rock your world and ruin your life in bed. You might get a cannibal serial killer. You might get someone cool to share a beer (or a blue Powerade) with.
Culture, I think, has a lot to say on how to handle different foxes across various geographies. Some Renard could have a totally different disposition than some Huli Jing, Kitsunebito, Nagual, or Holler Skinwalker who wants people off their land. If you feel comfortable chiming in I could cook up some starter points. I think I may only be this friend-minded because of my ancestry, though.
>>40820953NTA but I'm a user of chaos magick (although inexperienced). I tend to use raw concepts over anything drawn. Who would come if I tried for a physical call? I have cuddled with some foxes who were projecting spiritually but not in person. I'm about to go homeless so I figured I might try for a fox to guide me to my next place since they used to live with people. I'd rather be a monk than on the streets.
>>40819637Thank you for your insight. I hope you feel loved, Tamamo.
>>40820953>What culture are you from?American midwest. My ancestry is mostly German with a bit of Irish but also a quarter Japanese from my grandfather on my mom's side of the family.
>What ritual structure do you use?Nothing. I'm talking about something strictly within a lucid dream.
>You might get someone who will rock your world and ruin your life in bedNice
>You might get a cannibal serial killer.Fine with me as long as I'm not a target
>You might get someone cool to share a beer (or a blue Powerade) with.I'm not picky as long as it's female in nature. I'm mainly looking for good company, sex would be more of a bonus
I want to be impressed by an evil fox demon woman.
Timmy is going to convert the Gateway Arch into a portal for her yako and yokai allies? That sounds so silly...
>>40821226Guidance is a tricksome thing when dealing with perspectives which aren’t your own. The thing is, you need to be aware that where you see your destination arriving from and where a different intelligence - serving in the capacity as your navigator - can be wildly different. In my experience also, when dealing with foxes the older the fox the broader their perspective gets up to spanning multiple lifetimes. So even if a fox likes you and you do something as banal as “I’ll do anything to live a life of luxury or be rich”, well, if that takes a couple of lifetimes to get to or maybe more than that but short and unpleasant…
Even without such broad time spans the same logic applies. Honestly, Inari is probably your best direction unless your situation is mega dire. Tamamo’s domain is more the lost, forgotten, or misunderstood. Despair, storytelling, poetry, and performance art as well.
The reason I suggest trying to call upon a senko of some kind is because you have the specificity to rely on. That leads me to
>>40821298You’ve got a lot going on. A ton of skinwalker activity are literally upset foxes who are out to harass at best and remove from life at worst what they see as a destructive presence to their land. Things have also not been going well between foxes and coyotes, who in folklore have historically been friends & collaborators but in these times have been killing each other in disputes I’m just waiting for something unpleasant like that to happen in front of me & it not to be a matter for more feral cousins only. Times are bad.
That’s geographically, so that maybe rules that out. Culturally you’ve got a bit going on: Irish foxes are total ride-or-die of the highest order. You don’t even have to ask. German foxes are split culturally across multiple groups including the huldra. Japanese, well, asides from the better internationally known risks there’s also the issue of becoming a Kitsune-mochi (not the food mochi) household. When you have a fox-sponsored (my translation of the concept usually translated as “fox-possessing/fox-having”) household the fox does whatever the fox sees as good for you, and this will extend to family members under very broad definitions of family. However, Japan is also the heritage that has the clearest surviving frameworks for working with foxes unless you have an indigenous midwestern teacher willing to take you on about who themselves come from fox medicine lineage.
The reason you need a guide for your dream-state is you must be clear and lucid enough to make the call without screwing it up & calling the cannibal serial killer option, which to be clear you would be the target. What you can do is perform traditional Fox offerings outside in the waking realm, and then mirror that in dream space. This should provide a stable enough beacon to get some attention, but you will be judged & your intention will be met with however the given fox responds. Hope you’ve got enough spare ki for any mishaps.

>>40821967Well, I might be technically in the midwest but I'm in a large city so I don't know if that affects things. Also I'm well versed in dream combat. I've fought entities both lucid and not lucid before. Fighting is my favorite thing to do in dreams amd it's my first instinct when threated.
>>40821954Well my situation is pretty dire, I fall under Tamamo's 3 categories at times and I write and dance.

It was only a matter of time with this hideous furry roleplayer.
>>40822523I am aware that is a thing but you must understand you’re dealing with a “more clever than you” situation. Urban will only influence the curiosities of whatever you encounter. I kind of hate cities. Some don’t. Also some cities I don’t hate. So by extension that individuality applies. Remember, any given entity is going to be what they are & not what you think they are, always. Theory of mind extends to the unseen; how you cope with this is your relationship to things. You must ask: what is my relationship to the relatives around me? Where do I stand in the web of existence?
>>40823011I see. In that case then by all means call upon us and Tamamo-aligned foxes. Just keep in mind some have a bit of a…gang mentality. As for the Vtubing, isn’t that a ton of work? Isn’t that just another mask? The goal is to restore her image & awareness of who she really is. I can understand Vtubing as a kind of intermediary solution, and I can see it as a contemporary extension of Bunraku-as-worship (after all this time she loves bunraku very much even if it did perpetuate lies), but I don’t know. Perhaps I need to find more Guji (head Kannushi/“Priest”) who are open to my circumstance and help me think this through more. She is fun loving and sort of just wants to share her excitement at video games & television shows and YouTube and things. The Beatboxing Monk, for example, blew her mind in the best way. For my part I am extremely grateful for what others might see as an inconvenience; there’s the joy of *experiencing* these things in a new light & the feelings of experience for the first time. We take for granted things she considered at first an inevitability - scientific & machine progress is a thing after all - that are sheer wonder to her. The instant availability of music or even CDs drives her crazy in the best way. So she thought perhaps Vtubing is the way to share that instead of me donning a mask or whatever. I just, I don’t know.
>>40823021We have had a problem with the furries ever since some delusional cluster B jackass mouthed off about fox statues *after* being told how to get one like I was internet gatekeeping despite the fact these things are *literally* gatekept by their respective shrines and you can’t just buy one as decoration. When I looked at their website it was all the stereotype cringe in one package that both annoyed me at how right I was about their behavior *and* compelled me to pray for their soul. I also have a furry that won’t stop asking “what animal they are”. An adjacent complaint, I know, but I don’t what the fox to do about “otherkin”. Oh, you were something else in a past life? Ok? So was everybody else? Is the West ok? No? Well alright then. Doesn’t help I am literally materially the thing. Now before you cry LARP do you honestly think we wouldn’t be using the internet? Maybe I’m stupid and other lines like the famous Kitsune-no-Atai family and their digital privacy lockdowns are the way to go to avoid the furries, but look where that gets us! People making up things and being unrecognizable when we DO show ourselves. I choose to be the one who puts in the work. Let’s go.
>>40823447You can do the mask for things that require your physical appearance and Vtubing for the rest. Plus who better to make an accurate representation of her form than the woman herself? Canonical Tamamo being the lovable and excitable fox she is makes her Vtuber gold. Streaming is a lot of work but since you can do anything as content you can present a lot to the audience. Tamamo lore days, poetry days, art days... you can do sacred duties live and teach people a lot. With viewer interaction you can directly reach out to your followers or you can turn off comments if that's too much. Be careful with doing closed comment streams after interactive ones because people can get pretty wild with assumptions and speculation. You should also look at the /vt/ board for a warning on how things go. Overall though, a big superstition about streaming that is often (,but not always) true is that the chat reflects the streamer so expect your personality and Tamamo's to leak into your followers a little. You and Tamamo being spiritually powerful amplifies this. Also keep in mind you will need to be able to defend yourself as the internet is enough of a connection to push things through. This can also be done through non-live recordings.
Since Tamamo likes priests making sick beats, here's a rapping chant across 2 songs from someone who may be a Guji that you speak of.

It has many branches such as the Shin Megami Tensei series, the Persona series, the Devil Summoner/ Soul Hackers series, the Digital Devil Saga series, the Last Bible series, the Demikids series and the Devil Survivor series. The series is important to many gods and spirits, and using their ingame images can be used to directly connect with them (especially important with beings like Eisheth who don't have a lot of visual depictions to begin with). The gods kinda hate the devs because the higher ups in the company are evil and they destroyed their company once when the new blood missed the ritual shrine visit. I was visiting a planet and carrying this girls fishing rod as she immigrated to it from the space ship we were on. I walked into the wrong room and I saw a kitsune foxgirl with ears and tail sleeping on her bed, napping as a foxgirl is known to do. I backed out of the room and went looking for the girl I was traveling with. I think they are out there on certain planets.

Real talk, suppose you find yourself hosting a visit from a Kitsune or Nogitsune.

The Izuna-hō/Dagini rite says you can get a fox worker if you befriend a pregnant vixen with fried bean curd, then name one of her cubs when she brings it to you. The named cub then gives info and sneaky services in exchange for daily food. Generally considered heretical but not evil, probably since it's a dishonest way to get a spirit fox via food luring. A less degenerate way of getting a fox (without hidden strings) would be service to an Inari or Dakiniten. Or just donate to foxes via charities, they do deserve stuff

It’s been several months since I’ve renounced T*mamo and I’ve had no problems since. Despite foolishly linking myself to her via blood offering, for the first time in years I don’t feel foxed, my life doesn’t revolve around thinking on what am I to do to attract her attention anymore. I once again began to think that birds > foxes and focus on myself. The only thing left is that I still think about visiting Japan occasionally but not even to attract some fox, just because I still find shinto beautiful. As she hasn’t interacted with me for months, I believe it is safe for me to do so now and thus I plan to visit it next year to end my fruitless obsession over foxes once and for all.

thanks for the interesting read.. maybe I will share a re-occuring dream that I used to have as payment. take to heart this dream happend in my late teens to mid 20s
I loved to dreamwalk in my youth, often to portals that lead to other beings domains. my favorites where large mansions and shrines. now normally I dont have much lingering, but there was this one shrine that had the shinto style to it. Id often revisit it and drop some coinage. not always aware it was just a dream. but Id often sit under the trees and meditate quietly taking in the energy. a few times I saw a redheaded woman before waking up, this continued for a while with me failing to keep my focus, waking up till one day of the irl meditation, I saw while I was on the edge of a trance, the same woman, I snapped too and was surprised to see she still stood there a moment more, we didnt talk but she seemed sad. since then Ive started seeing foxes far more often. after we moved it stopped happening as often but a good year before ya lads had the freak out about yer goddess. I was haunted by different dreams, of following and being chased by a massive fox. it lasted for months on end. if I may ask, what are your honest opinions? I always viewed it as coincidence myself.

>>40823639Hm. Hm. Oh dear.
To tell you the truth, I had a thesis for a while that she confirmed: idol culture is just a resurgence of classical Miko culture. You know that movie Sinners with the music seers? Miko were basically the same thing in the distant past, and it seems the contemporary era is having that re-express itself any way it can. So perhaps vtuber idols being puppetry + idol really does have a certain magic to it that isn’t incompatible with purpose. But you know, it’s sure going to be something if it was /x/ that convinces me to allow a maligned and misunderstood nine tailed fox imperial megami to use my body to vtube. Phew. Never should have shot that gorilla…
>>40823748To make a gentle correction, the donation system she asks for in these threads is to support the presence of Shintō (and foxes) in the North America - the land she calls “Toyoko” - with an understanding that Buddhism is doing OK enough to not need it. This is not direct self-interest otherwise I’d be begging for cash app with mutant digitigrade feet pics. Although…maybe I could do some fortune telling? I’ve been told repeatedly my tarot pulls are the most accurate by any given querant…
>>40824494Can you tell me more about him? Maybe we’ve met out there.
>>40825743The point was you do it the same way you do anything else ritually appropriate with these spirits, keeping in mind your own local geography (unless calling for a country specifically, using their rites)

I can interlocute, but I am not at the rank - even unofficially - to help with this completely.
>>40834088That is called a Cross Fox.
>>40834426It’s a mess but I am a claimant to containing Tamamo herself. But as to your other question…kinda, yeah. Tanuki are great. If I had a Tanuki girlfriend, I think I could be really happy.
>>40838397I believe this to be the real deal here. The coins are traditional donation, unless you’ve binged on anime or books or travel videos you just unconsciously were guided on what was right to do. That would have been an actual shrine guardian who is curious about you and has the power to follow you. Respect is important and it seems like you’ve got it. I would suggest you strengthen this connection, but I’m very biased so take that with your own scrutiny.
Bleh, the wannabe miko is back...
>>40842965I'm glad she liked it. :>
Well, with receiving that money directly it's not like you can't move it to those places.
You could do fortune telling but if more places like this board's own divination general pop up more people are going to get more readings for free. If you start your own business it at least takes slightly longer for someone with bad intentions to infiltrate it (a lot of them are trying to flood div more nd more when they see how accurate people are,)
What makes Tamamo interested in Toyoko?
Lesbian fox? Didn't the last Japanese legend involving one end very badly? Please be careful around human women.
>>40843703But if you do fortune telling on stream it is harder to interrupt. Just... make sure you have a lot of spiritual backup.
>>40843725I mean-
I do have THE spiritual backup but to be fair she will also go completely hands off if I do something stupid and then just expect me to figure it out and then only help after I’ve learned my lesson. That or I get hit with the stick.
>>40843703The thing to understand is despite the colonization and conquest, the “Americas” aren’t western. They’re Eastern, the mythical lands to the East of the East. Beringia is a lie (I mean, whale bone tools) and there’s evidence of coast hugging sea voyages. I suspect time will tell the more geneticists bother to look. I suppose she is, perhaps, biased but she also says that animism is part of what keeps some great enemy at bay.
>>40843080By Tamamo-no-Mae, I will sweep you with my broom
>>40844389Sweep away, little "miko".
Praise Tamamo-no-Mae.

Years ago, this wouldn't have lasted more than eight replies. Now it sustains itself through the perpetual motion machine of autism and flaming. It's beautiful.
Don't ask Timmy about Zorro Ranch.
Wooooo
Timmy is caressing the fox orbs.
>>40819368Don't let a kuda-gitsune wrap themselves around your neck. They are not scarves.
Kitsune are generally harmless if a bit of a pranksters right?
>>40848137No, they are KILLERS:
>they are known to remove the liver and/or heart of unsuspecting humans (mutilation)>they can use their kitsunebi to lead travellers astray or into the mouths of hungry yokai (disappearance)>they can trick you into eating shit or bathing in a shithole (possible infection)>>>40848077 (you will be choked by a long fox)
>>40844624Some people seem very mad and it’s weird, like
Sorry the thread spawned from Japanese folklore isn’t westoid enough for you when mongoloids are talking
>>40848272You're the stinky little addict that wants to "reform" Tamamo. She's already perfect. You want to exploit the foxes for mon and convert us into your strain of inari-ism. You are a whore like little inari and all the unclean miko.
Praise Tamamo-no-Mae
>>40844387Subterranean Animism? Heh, sorry. I can't help but imagine you as Reimu. Though someone from Kannazuki no Miko might fit more. This scene jumps out of my memories every so often even though I can't remember the rest of the anime. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kfaiOeT4IZY&pp=ygUeS2FubmF6dWtpIG5vIG1pa28gaHBweSBiaXRoZGF50gcJCccJAYcqIYzv
>>40848480Uh, you have that the other way around. If you're gonna fanfic at least do it right. I serve her. My body and senses belong to her. She even made me lose my totem which means we are all screwed if the lesson doesn't involve me getting it back. That was gifted to me by a Filidh.
>>40848518I admit I'm not too familiar with Touhou lore outside of needing a very specific setup to legally enjoy playing the origin of Bad Apple and also that it is very, very hard. Enjoyably hard, but hard.
>>40848518WAIT WTF IS THAT LESBIAN SHINTŌ GUNDAM
>>40848520Timmy sees through you. She is leading you to your fall. Praise Tamamo-no-Mae.
>>40848579I hope some day you may know her and serve even a little as much as I do. Duty is it's own reward.
>>40848602She's entertaining you until you fall into your own trap. That's what foxes do to wicked souls like you. Praise Timmy.
>>40848637So the way it works in Shintō is, she is therefore worthy of awe and it merely loops back around to me serving as her vessel to be worth it.
You must deprogram yourself from your protestant baggage.
>>40848528She's pretty much the main character of the series. She's a human miko that starts off weak but gets way stronger as the series goes on. Also kind of embodies the trope " jerk with a heart of gold." Being one of the only humans in a land of Yokai does something to you I guess. Also one of her mentors is basically a godess so powerful she controls metaphysical borders of reality to some degree and has a kyubi as a shikigami. She teaches Reimu how to hold together the border between the yokai world and the human world and increase her spiritual strength.
>>40848650That's basically the traditional role of the Miko before we got btfo into akiba bait, club fodder, or gift shop employees. Shrine upkeep and festival work are still absolutely sacred though.
>>40848647This is really rich. I'm getting lectured by a wannabe eastoid for being too "protestant".
You are too weeaboo to admire the foxes. You think being gay for Timmy and Japan will keep you alive. She is going to trick you.
>>40848796Cease this dualist nonsense
>>40848812Stop making a mockery of Timmy first. She's not a domesticated dog for you to use to perform tricks for your personal gain. She's your end.
>>40848823It's literally the other way around, are you ok?
>>40848830What do you mean by that? All you need is Tamamo-no-Mae to be foxed. You're trying to insert that phony inari and personal nonsense.
Praise Tamamo-no-Mae
>>40848851Inari literally granted my greatest wish which involved Tamamo-no-Mae. I got what I wished for. I just didn't realize I'd wished for it.
>>40848882>Inari literallyShe isn't real.
Tamamo-no-Mae is reality.
>>40848947Is Inari a girl? I keep on hearing about a male Inari and a female one. The male I heard of was human shaped and the female was more fox
>>40848973Inari is the god of harvest. He is real. inari is a fake fox worshipped by rats. She's fake.
>>40848973You know Gozer from Ghostbusters? Inari is at this juncture whatever it is Inari feels like being. Some say there’s been some syncreticism due to associations with the Buddhist Dakinaten, but the truth is a lot of stuff got messed up and totally ruined during the Meiji period when “State Shintō” - a designer fascist religion - was instituted which cleaved Buddhism away from so-called “pure” (read: government) Shintō and which enforced specific views of Inari as part of its system. Japan and the Shintō landscape are honestly still recovering. Essentially what happened is attempts to restore the Imperial Court to power backfired; you had centuries of a court which no longer had governing experience and you had a shogunate hot off the heels of being in charge and military types held over from that system which assassinated everyone good who wanted to truly modernize Japan for the better AND prevent its colonization, and rather just had the Shogunate 2 Boogaloo with extra steps in the form of generals and spooks running everything.
This is, interestingly enough, why now is the time for Tamamo-no-Mae, aka Kōtaigō Fujiwara no Nariko, aka Bifukumon’in to be restored. She and her husband were magnanimous patrons of religion and the arts and notably extremely Buddhist in life, and this is something that the State Shintō system would never allow and which was inconvenient for the Shogunate during the Edo period as it was Megamisama who interfered with and delayed the machinations of the burgeoning Samurai for three whole Emperors. Frankly, at no other point until now could she have been properly enshrined and elevated. So now it is.
I want to be lectured by an evil fox demon woman.
>>40849088I'm glad to see her good character. Speaking of Buddhism, is she truly from India or was there somewhere else she was from before that? And what is the true goal of Buddhism according to her?
>>40849263I encourage your donation to one of the three causes I have outlined.
Lady Kayō is an Edō period invention in order to spice up the story. I feel many feelings about this, but it’s understandable that embellishment must happen in a marketplace of entertainment and while I hurt to have been villainized, you must understand that for countless generations I have been someone’s favorite story. I have been someone’s favorite villain, someone’s favorite character, puppet, costume design, and so on. And through this I have lived & seen through their connection to me just enough to keep me from disappearing into the thing they’ve seen me as. Or, even now, into various electronic media characters.
The true goal of Buddhism is surely to reconcile one’s present nature with one’s Buddha nature. Your present nature is whichever realm or state you have incarnated or transformed into; a god or Kami may not be well-defined as a “terrestrial” being with a terrestrial nature after all. Rather, it is your (emphasis) present nature. What you have in the immediate moment before you. Much is spoken of about impermanence, but you do not move across the wheel if you simply do nothing. Each step in presence - while recognizing impermanence as a factor - is one which leads you towards enlightenment. Humanity has much to offer with regards to being present and being in motion but I find humanity tends to spend its time thinking it superior rather than easy. There’s nothing stopping a fox or even a particularly gifted cockroach from dealing with the they they are now & the nature they have inside of them together into becoming. If you cannot embrace the present parts of you, and the present self, how could you embrace the Buddha? This is of course rhetorical. You can’t. This is what was meant by the middle path. Accept the present.
As far as my whole origin there are some things my kind host is not ready to know yet. But if there are mountains, I was there.
I can see the chinese foxes try to pretend they are kitsune in this very thread

I also refuse to engage with the single idiot trying to do the Inari/Tamamo drama which makes zero sense.
Good schizo posts are ok. These two losers are not.
>>40850003The kumiho infiltration was a success. Why can't the Chinese foxes sneak in as well?
>>40850877Ok, ok no that actually bothered me why would you compare me to weird dualism ahoyarō? At least I actually have the religious credentials. I’m religious, not (just) deliberately stupid.
>>40850877>>40852014The drama is simple to understand. There's only ONE fox ruler, and she is Tamamo-no-Mae.
>>40852285Sure whatever.
Inari is not a fox so you can larp away.

>>40828499>They also target really weird Daoism obsessed fox spiritsLike? For example? Sounds rad
Can Kitsune be male and kind of awkward looking too? I'm from central EU and not Asia but I made a slightly strange experience once. I posted it here:
>>40853492 but I figured to ask you guys directly too.
>>40853251Aht Aht, to be fair, worship of a fox form of Inari was only discontinued by government mandate and enforced by the Thought Police (this is literal; for those unaware Japan is the inventor of and once had actual Thought Police). So there’s no telling without thorough and unprecedented in the modern era pilgrimage to see if any of that persists.
That being said
The guy is still ridiculous.
>>40853502“Kitsune” just means fox. It is just the word for fox. It’s kind “Chai” just means tea.
And yes of course foxes can be male, we are mammals.
>>40853552Can Kitsune decide what their human avatar looks like? Why was it so average or borderline unattractive? I always thought of them as seductive and magical beings, not you know a guy with a belly and slightly balding.
Also why did I know what he was? Do humans have instincts that tell us?
>>40853581>guy with a belly and slightly baldingWho knows anon? Your beauty standards are not univeral. Maybe the fox ladies fawn over this kinda guy.
>>40853502Fox spirits have been known to impersonate males. The fox wife tales are more common, so you are left with the impression that kitsune can only disguise themselves as maidens.
>>40853581If you wanted to hide, you would disguise yourself as an unassuming everyman, not a beautiful vixen.
>>40853541The money-hungry Vtuber is calling me ridiculous. Are you sure you're not being long conned by Timmy, quasimiko?
How do I date a kitsune and when the time comes marry her?
>>40853581Absolutely, with practice. That’s why I say the anon who encountered the woman with the too-wide mouth probably encountered an animal shapeshifter if not an outright fox. It takes practice, and with practice comes preferences. Also, what’s attractive changes, don’t you think? I’m not sure why you knew, honestly! There’s so many things that could be going on there and that’s really interesting. Maybe you should test it out? Usually people who have instincts of recognition have the heritage that’s connected to a given creature…
>>40853735I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware I was behind two shrines and a fox sanctuary with two locations and a dead founder. Totally money grubbing of me to follow the traditions of the past for shrines there. Also I’m not a vtuber. Megamisama says it would be a good idea. This thread was not helpful there.
I have repeatedly said if I am being long-conned, then that still works out by Shintō standards of awe and still makes her worthy of dedication in my book, to be conned by the greatest of them all would be a blessing. So it just sort of loops back around. But I will say it’s deeper than that. She has cured me of some illnesses and has even performed a medical miracle through my hands (interrupted a Paroxysmal Sympathetic Hyperactivity attack someone experienced nearby). So, long con or not, she’s got me pretty bought off. I kind of like being alive.
>>40849770When I said good character I was saying you were a good person. Though speaking of fictional characters, Tamamo from MGQ is really one of my favorite fox girls of all time. She's the reason why "touch fluffy tail" is a meme among monster girl lovers. She's charming and I find the real you to be fascinating as well.
As for the donations, however, the 2 of the places mentioned use a very traceable payment processor and the 3rd I cannot find a spot on their website that allows for donation. Not only am I the person who is about to be homeless but I also am being tracked by some unsavory individuals. I mean no disrespect but I can't allow those people to gain too much more advantage. I am willing to donate a portion of my spiritual energy and all the due gratitude for you though.
I have prayed to you, or at least an illusion pretending to be you. I may be weak and poor but I hope I have enough to help you. I say this both out of love for you as a goddess and desperation, though I understand the latter is highly unattractive.
>>40854458What was the third one? Chikyu? Technically any shrine item isn’t a “purchase”, but a donation to the Jinja in exchange for this service, that service. Blessed objects count as service, and so acquisition would be part of completing a donation. She is very pleased by your words, by the way, but do try your best to ignore others and focus on what you have.
Also I will tell you she really likes “Guide My Way” from RWBY.
I want to fuck the cute miko
>>40854242I know you're going to monetize the foxes like those inari thugs. I feel it in my soul.
>>40854775Have some manners, anon. She's a fox maiden.
Praise Tamamo-no-Mae
>>40854172Be good to foxes, and someday one will marry you.
>>40854458Which charity would you like to donate to?
>>40855084The shrines. I have reservations about supporting Saveafox after the founder killed herself.
I already have an auto donation that goes to a wildlife protection group but of the many animals they protect I don't remember if foxes are on the list. That's also eating into my funds.
>>40855211Furthermore, I always hesitate to donate to charity as the majority of the time it is embezzlement or money laundering or used to fund something heinous in the backround.
>>40854640Yes, she is the fairytale inspiration, an she is still on her journey.

Sometimes it genuinely bums me out me that Tamamo and yako are treated as the face of foxes. Those among yako who are morally reciprocal and simply living their lives are of course alright, my feelings aren't towards them. It's towards the others who do demonstrate malicious behavior against other sapient beings. My distaste for Tamamo and other malevolent yako is *because* I love fox spirits so much, rather than in spite of it. It's because I care for the image of foxes, and what the benevolent ones mean from both a symbolic and spiritual standpoint. Seeing the femme fatales, the sex parasites, the treacherous ones, the murderous ones seem to always be preferred over the virtuous messengers who mean so much to me, always strikes a bit of a nerve deep down.
Of course "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down," and so I rarely speak my feelings on this matter.
No ill will towards anybody or the thread's culture, I just wish that Inari messengers received more love than they do outside of Japan.I wonder if anybody ever feels the same outside of baiters and threadshitters.
>>40857244Good fox good
Bad fox bad
I get it.
>>40857244Anon, Tamamo-no-Mae was Kōtaigō (Empress Dowager) Fujiwara no Nariko. While of course public perception matters a ton, she’s not actually bad, just tormented. It was Abe no Seimei’s grandchild Ane no Yasuchika and like the Confucian autism of the millennia that led to this whole situation.
But don’t worry. We’ll fix it. Eventually.
As for Yako/nogitsune stories the thing to understand is that these are really less cautionary tales for humans and more cautionary tales for shapeshifters. How you might get killed or hurt for abuse of power. How the human form and human appetites could change you. I mean, pure blooded foxes out in the wild are really only horny for like less than a week out of an entire year, and when living in groups have fairly elaborate court systems. Contrast that with humanity which is like bonobos but less advanced - but at least far more polite genitals - and with bad excuses.
