Should I watch the entirety of the X-files
Well, should I, /x/? Will it make me more versed on the paranormal, or at least on what people think about the paranormal? Are seasons that should be skipped?

Most people are of the opinion that past season 6 the series started to decline in quality pretty noticeably

I watched it all about a decade ago. It’s more of a procedural than a serious look into the paranormal, usually going no deeper than surface level references to stuff you’ve probably heard about already. I’d recommend it for entertainment, but for knowledge you’d be better off with documentaries, books, or lurking on here.

Fringe is a pretty good show, too, that gets /x/-y

Seasons 1 - 5 are the best. Season 5 has a lot of closure, too, if you feel like stopping there. Season 3 is the best, in my opinion. Season 6 and 7 have some great episodes, but they're really hit or miss on the whole. After season 7 is for completists only. I haven't watched any if the revival episodes, tho I'd really like to watch the Darin Morgan written episodes.

Came here to also recommend fringe.

Debris is also good too but unfortunately they only did one season: https://youtu.be/c5IdgmHRLxU

You should, they're good, as are a few of the other standalone episodes from seasons 10 and 11.
