Why is that as time goes on society becomes increasingly more shitty? More expensive, more unhappy, more restrictive. Is it just the natural state of decay?

Its an inevitable end for the thinking that "things must always go up". Even if its just the the idea of overall happiness, to simply blindly chase things going up it'll end up not working if done to fast. In this case its the profits must go up people that have ruined things. We reached a point a long long time ago where it was not possible to make sales go up without making people suffer more. And it just kept going and going.

psychopaths are more likely to want to have a lot of power and influence.
they do not shy away from getting what they want through deceit, manipulation and backstabbing.
we are governed by psychopaths who cheated their way into power positions.
both in governments and corporations.
the mantra is not "do whats best for the future of humanity".
it is "do whats best for ME, my family and friends, because we are superior".
the current goal is to extract as much value as possible from the "inferiors" through work (time) and products and services (money).
everything is designed to tempt you and trick you into buying or doing something stupid.
you need to be constantly vigilant to not fall for it.
which is impossible, everybody has weak moments where they buy some stupid ass 100 dollar t shirt or labubu.
our world would work if everyone would be completely vigilant of themselves at all times and thinks things through and makes rational decisions.
and you and me both know, this is just impossible.
this can be seen everywhere, on the internet as well as in supermarkets.
easiest example is the 1,99 prices, designed to trick you into thinking it is not 2 dollars, but 1 dollar something.
we sort of just accepted this trickery as the norm, do not even see it as something amoral anymore.
i hate it, i hate it so much and want it to change.
because i can think about what the ideal would be, and everybody else knows it as well, a much better world for all would be possible.
but is artificially prevented by the psychopaths and assholes in power.

Society gets bigger, government gets bigger, more positions get made to be filled by greedy, amoral psychopaths that are happy to lower the quality of life of everyone around them for the sake of enriching themselves. Psychopaths, basically, and the NPCs that mindlessly validate and enable them.
