I was a homeless crackhead in Rockford, IL

george had a homeless girlfriend
we crossed paths every now and then
one day his girlfriend was found dead
she was badly beaten
they had to use dental records to identify her
we come across george a few days later
we're chilling by river on some benches
getting drunk and smoking
my buddy goes off to buy a teener
it's me, george and some disabled black guy
george starts saying shit like
"the cops grilled me for 3 hours, but I got away"
"i put her in the ground"
etc.

Oregon has a lot of strange shit going on. It's a big state with a lot of untamed mountain passes and deep gorges, some of the oldest cities on the west coast, and hundreds of thousands of miles of dense forest that literally never sees daylight due to the size of some of the trees. I have a story to share that I think you gentlemen might appreciate.

In the US at least, unsolved disappearances and murders abruptly exploded in the '70s, remained high through the '90s, then dropped back down to even lower than they had been pre-'70s in the '00s and are still low today. I've never really seen that phenomena commented on or explained.

You should read up on the lead-crime hypothesis. Basically, everyone was constantly inhaling lead fumes from the gasoline back then, and it turned a bunch of kids into violent retards.

I have a very simple one, but I still think about it once in a while. I grew up in a pretty small town in rural New England, and we had a local guy we kids called "Walking Man", who would just walk around town, all day every day. Always wearing a black tracksuit, never talked to any of us. He seemed harmless, but we invented all sorts of myths about him--that he was a murderer or rapist or drunk or something. I think he was just retarded, but it's funny how kids can kind of create legends like that.
