The way I currently see it is that everything evolves towards God, suffering(and thus evil) is just a stage of that transition. It is used to teach Good and is necessary due to the way the world works. The world doesn't need to work that way, but it gets the job done, so it doesn't matter in the end. If you reach perfection, the existence or absence of evil at the beginning will not change that.
What matters is that evil is an option and you have to choose good, not whether there is an entity between God and evil or not.
