That isn't a mountain lion at all OP, that first guy doesn't know what the fuck he's taking about. I live in Ohio where we hear plenty of crazy sounds in the woods. Mountain lions will scare the absolute shit of you when you hear them but that's not what this is. They scream, like a long wail and loud as fuck. This is clearly a more articulate thing and sounds extremely close. If a mountain lion was that close the dog would've ran long before then. I won't speculate on whether it's paranormal or not, but I can tell you that a) that's a human females voice and b) that's not a mountain lion.

If I misunderstood your question and you're asking why mountain lions scream, it's usually mating calls but probably injuries/fighting other animals as well. Think of cats howling and screaming when they fight, now times that by like 30 and you have a cougar
