For those struggling with anything, especially for those who would rather die than suck up to one larping as better than them, I present the Great Sage Archetype. Based on the character from the novel Journey To The West, this is an idea which has given me strength and inspiration to continue on my path. Let this be a thread where I share my knowledge on this character and hopefully learn more practical or interesting things. Note that I do not agree with working with any "entity", or worshipping anything, I am also wary of self delusion from mimic entities claiming to be your future or higher self. imo either it is by your own power or not yours at all.

(from my admittedly flawed understanding) Born from a stone which received the energy of heaven and earth/ Yin and yang, as well as the sun and moon, the stone monkey seeks out immortals to learn how to become that himself, and does so using taoism, along with other magic powers such as transforming into anything he wants and flying on a cloud. after this, he has some more adventures, one of which results in him erasing his and the other monkey's names from the book of the dead. at some point he takes on the self proclaimed title of "Great Sage Equal to Heaven".

What really stood out to me about the character was his attitude in the 1978 japanese series, a truly neutral third position, no faggot "satan" or "yahweh", just someone who was able to rival Heaven itself with his own power, through cause and effect. btw that's what he does. given a position by Heaven, he is not satisfied and after feeling insulted he wages a war on Heaven, only being stopped by the Buddha due to the Buddha existing outside the universe/holding all existence within his palm including Monkey. this first sequence when Monkey is free is honestly the best example of metafictional overcoming, he is the best option you could choose to emulate if you wanted to escape the matrix. The only reason he did not is due to his excessive pride and impatient, accepting a sketchy bet/trick question from the Buddha and losing.

Sun Wukong is not the great sage archetype.
He’s a trickster style archetype, a playful monkey who cannot be controlled and who actually lacks sage like qualities. Hence his self proclaimed title which is arrogance. He’s incredibly tough but not wise.
