Why are blind people associated with prophecy, wisdom and the supernatural?

Imagine how "useful" a blind person was in the old world. There was no tech or established systems to help them navigate the world. Their family or the people around them supported them because they couldn't see shit, captain.
So this means two things. Firstly, I would imagine that those blind people were fucking immensely appreciative of being cared for rather than being thrown off a cliff at birth or whatever. Secondly, they probably never had much to do except think and do simple work with their hands. That leaves a lot of time to get wise, thinking all day with literally 0 visual distractions.

Imagine that the brain is like a radio, receiving inputs from all senses and more.
Now imagine that the brain is used to a certain level of stimulus, when that stimulus is gone it is still functioning like the stimulus was still there, but it focus on the other senses.

If someone put you inside a sense privation chamber, you'll become paranormal too.

Being blind seems like the worst thing to live through, couldn't even being to imagine.

Also, people so appreciative of their life and care like that tend to actively look for ways to give back to their community. People are adaptable and we are frequently pretty smart. A couple of decades or somebody sitting around and thinking about giving back/contributing non materially is very potent.

you live depedant on your 3d sight, when you lose it, the only sight left for you to use is the 3rd eye sight. This is why blind people were associated with prophecy,wisdom and supernatural.
Also the other senses become heightened and the blind person to live, has to develop logic, attention to words said, sound behavior of people and animals and around him. 90% of communication info is non-visual.

Most blind (that lived) had backing so that's why they survived and obviously associated with fortune because fortune favors those who are backed even if they fail at live, any stigma would be disregarded in case they fell the same fate. You can see where I'm going here but tl;dr it's just written in the books that blind deserve sympathy
