How do I choose what to start studying
So like I want to try getting deeper into the occult. but so far I've only really done surface level stuff like dream interpretation, and tarot. Also meditation but I think that one might be a psyop so I stopped.

For my first next step I want to purify my mind by giving up caffeine and social media. Which i think were both mutilating my psyche and suppressing the deep mind. But once I have restored my mind, I'm not sure where I should start researching.

I'm not exactly looking for a specific book to start with as much as a way to figure out where to start myself

Because like there's no verifiable facts to support choosing any system of magic over any other as correct. And like I'm not atheist but also believe a lot of mystic stuff is copium made up by manipulative people and is just going to misdirect me from the truth And I have no religion so like no on ramps there.Am studying physics right now so maybe I'll find some connections there

Gnosticism is quite popular here and serves as a good gateway into the esoteric imo. It's where I got my start as well.

Here's a good site for it.
Hermeticism is another really good one, the Hermetica in particular. Lot of overlap between the two.
>Also meditation but I think that one might be a psyop so I stopped.
Meditation is one of the best tools are your disposal as long as it's not some weird Hindu demon shit.
>m studying physics right now so maybe I'll find some connections there
I only have a surface level knowledge of quantum mechanics but I see overlaps constantly and it's amazing.

Researching the sources of inspiration for magic systems in your favorite media is also a great way to get into it. Based on the Patchy OP, you might be interested in this esoteric 2hu site. It's slightly schizo, but the writer is clearly very knowledgeable so at least it's fun to skim through if you get nothing else out of it.

To add to this, if you struggle with meditation try Robert Monroe's Gateway tapes. It's like a cheat code.

Escoteric touhou site that sounds so cool glad this weekend was light on homework lol. Will check out the other links to, a little skectched otu by christian stuff but starting to realize if I let it scare me off I will miss out on a lot of info because a lot of western occultism seems at least tangentially wrapped up in it.

maybe I'll try meditation again, mostly it's just that last time I did it zen meditaion at it 20-30 min daily it mostly just made me feel super disassociated. And I got paranoid that it would supress my ability to visualize if I was training my self to ginore my minds mental images. And then started thinking about how buddhism seemed like a very convenient way to hoodwink underclasses into being complacent about being screwed over. But maybe some style with a more visualization element could avoid those problems. I do a little bit of the jungian active imagination technique as part of my dream interpretation and that goes well

A good way to start is browsing through /x/, finding topics that resonate with you and then researching deeper on your own. This place mentions many different topics worth reading into. I personally like Alchemy, Hermeticism and Daoism. Don't be afraid to explore, it's okay to change your mind.

I know it has this risk of making me insane but like. idk no matter how good my life gets I can't shake this sense of ennui and dread. Like no matter how much I enjoy life I just get this sense that my existence is this worthless spiraling decay, and then I get interested in spiritual stuff because the only materialistic world view i can believe in is hedonism and it doesn't seem to cut it.

Approaching it as ancient psychology rather than a story book might help your outlook. Christianity never really clicked for me either until I began reading Gnostic texts, with that context it started to resonate with me, and extremely glad it did.

Meditation's really fucking hard to get right. It took me at least a year before I genuinely felt like I was getting anything out of it, and even then I still get sessions that are duds. Like you said in the OP, cutting out your vices such as caffeine and social media make it much easier to see benefits.
> And then started thinking about how buddhism seemed like a very convenient way to hoodwink underclasses into being complacent about being screwed over.
I get that. Over a long enough time span I think any organized religion is bastardized and turned into a tool against average people, but if you can separate the contemporary from the base texts and view them as tools to better your life you might see it in a different light. A lot of religious people are purely performative, you can be a good practicing Christian, Buddhist, Taoist, Hermeticist, whatever you decide works for you, without engaging in any of the corrupt modern aspects.

I mean thats the thing i do enjoy everything, I enjoy my friends, my hobbies, my school. But then I just think about what an unremarkably ordinary doomed to die person i am. And I just feel shaken like my whole future will just be repeating these same cycle of do thing I have to do, do fun thing, sleep but slowly decaying each year into nothing. What if the consciousness can't persist after death and I disappear. IDK i want to explore the occult so i can have some sense of idk somethign to fix me. That and i've always been fascinated with mythology and fantasy type stuff so magic has always been alluring to me
