I notice most beautiful eastern video game characters have this downwards pointed top lip (tubercle/procheilon?), and while you occasionally see it in whites it's way more common in asians. Idk if it evolved from diet, sexual selection, whatever, but it's a subtle but important part of cuteness in asian characters. Just check any game character you like to draw/model and you'll start noticing it. And conversely it's quite rare in western character design.

the indent combined wih the downward followed by an upward curve is called a cupid's bow. its a desirable lip shape. its less seen in western character designs because so many western characters are face scans that they also kinda ugly up in post if theyre females.

additionally rhe war beauty influences their decision making in what kind of women to hire as models, which they then do a little renovation on to make them as manly as possible.
what was that game with some asian robot girl. they got shit on for having a wacky cartoon charavter(a sexy woman) as their mc. then it was revealed the player model is a 1-1 face and body scan of a real woman.
case in point: they did not hire an uggo. they did not uglify the scan. so it's offencive to them.

Honestly I guess I'm gonna go play Genshin after finishing my current run of Skyrim DLCs. In my teen years I once had a goon session of something like 6 hours of nonstop edging, that was when I first found a torrent of World of Whorecraft. I think I'm too old for that now, it's anywhere between 10 minutes and 2 hours nowadays.

This was not exactly on topic anyway, but I'm glad there was something to talk about in this thread.

I had this head mesh with shape keys for customization. I had to get some "ideal lip shapes" and per my taste I first gravitated toward lips that had an indent in the aforementioned bump. Sorta like if a woman gets too much lip filler it kinda looks like 2 pillows squished together. But when I looked up references of eastern character designs sure enough to all had this beaky bump.
So I came to a point where I had to redo the head mesh and I just redid all the lips morphs last night. I really "winged it" didnt use references and didn't have a plan. Just need some shapekeys for my game scripts to grab onto.

Yes it's more common in Asia, I've Noticed it on Japanese women more than Koreans, but still a lot of Korean women have it. And I agree 100% with you, almost all the characters I've made have a heavily projected tubercle since it makes the lips look fuller without looking bloated.

Since we're talking cg characters and not real life women, you can get all the ideal lip shapes without the side effects of fillers.
The first place I noticed this asian lip beak was in the commercials for final fantasy x-2. All 3 of them have a different version of it.
