3D newfag, modeling expert wannabe
How much time i need to dedicate everyday to modeling in order to become KINO. i plan to model things so i can make cool website with openGL or Unity (maybe games ?). Do cool stuff with char like animating or provide assets to my gamedevs friends. mostly interested in char & environment modeling. i have a basic understanding in shapes and forms since i draw everyday. I have the classical 9 to 5 job with possibility to work from home. what's the basic learning path and good exercices to practice everyday ?

Do you have any advice on how to achieve that? Like a pathway or something. I don't have 2d or 3d art experience, so this is all new to me. I want to learn to make models so I can eventually use them in my games and not have to rely on assets. AI has no sovl and exploits artists' copyrighted work while vroid is limited and underoptimized.

I'm doing Daniel Kreuter's character modelling tutorial rn. I have no idea what to do after this, and I'm just so far from being able to make a model that's at vroid level, much less the ones I want to make.

what you should do after that tutorial is make a character and immediately use what you learned so you don't forget it. If you get stuck go back to the tutorial to see how it's done.

once you're done with the character it probably won't be good so identify what you want to improve and find a tutorial or resource to improve on that.

also use high quality references both 3d and 2d (very very important) and take your time

I first started learning 3D five years ago and just finished this project. You could probably get to this level quicker if you pick one aspect of 3D and just focus on that. I've jumped around all over the place trying different things and haven't levelled up as quick as others might have.

OP posted a question (63 days ago) that's been answered hundreds of times and hasn't posted a single attempt at 3d . If he hasn't started by now he's ngmi. >>1012031 is absolutely correct, and >>1014466 good work my dude keep at it and finish the background. Doesn't need to be complicated or realistic, the focus is on cell

Thanks bro. I was tempted to do it but wasn't sure I could match the aesthetic and opted for a plain BG instead for portfolio purposes. Currently working on a base mesh for a Rei Ayanami figure. I'm posting WIPs on my X if anyone is interested.

Why does he only have 3 fingers in your model?

I based my model on his manga appearance. I prefer him with less fingers because it makes him look less human.
