No matter how good AI is, it needs training material to learn a new technique, approach or gimmick. Once AI is trained to properly replicate certain gimmick, trick or style, you can step forward and come up with something new again and stand out until AI gets there.

a) AI kontinues shitting the bed, your job is safe
b) your 3D knowledge will enable to you write better prompts than AI tards within 10 minutes and you'll get their job if AI against all odds improves

I started playing with blender like less than a month ago, I'm well aware I'm tremendously late to the party, and yet I'm still having fun. Maybe its because I'm not looking to make money out of this.

Generative AI lacks the level of control that human-made art provides. If you have something really specific in mind, you may have to keep generating and generating and burning through your credits until the RNG gives you a result you're satisfied enough with.

That's depressing af though, I didn't learn 3d to write a prompt until I get a good result. I learned it because I want to be the one sculpting, modelling and texturing.

You're just pressing a button until an almost random result is good enough. It doesn't compare to how it feels to do it yourself.

If you're worried about job opportunities, I'd recommend to have a shift in your artistic approach. Don't make people want your 3D models because they're technically good, but because they say something about your insane mind.
Be the reason why people want to commission you, where no matter if a person or machine can recreate your technical style 1.1, people just want to know what you come up with.

When every job is gone and maybe we reach a point where you can live without worrying the only thing your gonna have to decide to do is either nothing or something based completely on what you decide. If your want is completely on the idea being praise based then assume that in period where everyone can make anything in less effort the final product is no longer the target of appreciation but the effort behind it is. Both facts come to same conclusion you should only be doing something that you have passion in.

Scanning is nothingburger, it can only do things you have in real life, it cant do imaginary things or stylized things, just like how photography cant do what drawing does. AI on the other hand can do almost anything, with the only limitation being control over the output, but uncreative or unimaginative people don't really care about that.

sure, I can painstakingly calculate all the digits of pi from scratch, or I can just use a calculator, a computer, or even AI for that too
