>First creation software with fully featured amazing SDF 3D modeling, which even today is still the best execution of the method that there has been
>Had a PC port in development with export features tland everything you could wish for that was near completion and almost ready for release
>Got canceled at the last minute because if media molecule layoffs
I will never forgive Sony. Fuck wireframes, fuck meshes, fuck retopo, and fuck Sony.

there are certainly already SDF plugins for every software.

If you're sad your fave vidya was canned and don't care about the modeling tech's actual availability, then it's a thread for >>>/v/

why are you so bad at reading? the point is that the game's SDF modeling implementation is still the most (and only) sophisticated one to this day. learn to read.

Feel free to do or link a feature set comparison to support your supposed point

topology is the best part of 3d anon
i think its gonna be a long time until we see sdfs being used outside of just some hardsurface modeling situations.
just get good

Fucked up topology + custom normals is the best part of 3d. "Good topology" is just straight up boring.

cry fag.
sdf isnt modelling. zSpheres have already been invented, and guess what? you jave to retopo the whole thing so thoroughly your basically remodelling it from scratch.
you lost
you have nothing
you will never escape the reality that you must move verts around.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but SDFs were everywhere in demoscene since its very beginning. Also they're everywhere in shadertoy. It's literally composing surface equations, so it sure is different to modelling, but with some powerful UI tools it might be possible to make transforming and combining those surface equations to feel more like modelling or even sculpting. There is no topology whatsoever since there is no discrete geometry at all since it's all pure pixel shaders rendering surfaces described by equations. No vertexes, no polygons, nothing. Pure raytracing of surface equations.

It is cool for fancy abstract geometrical demos, but I can't imagine actually using it for large scenes with varied objects.
It is very expensive and doesn't use GPU efficiently (basically it puts all load into pixel shaders and ignores everything else).
This is what it is good for:

there any good videos showing modeling this way off? all I can find is stuff demoing what you can do but it seems like a voxel vr engine would be better or sculpting on top of a flat surface.

I've used Womp, the problem is that it's cloud-based and a web app so it's slow and blurry, and you can't customize the interface
no idea why they don't make the shortcuts and everything as close to blender as possible considering that's where most people will be coming from, but whatever
they said they're working on a desktop app but it'll probably be a while
I feel you though OP, Dreams is how I got into 3D shit too. the ease of use with a controller of all things was and still is mindblowing, and I'm very fucking annoyed that nothing can compare still
sculpting is not the same and mesh modeling is hell, none of it is intuitive at all. praying that ConjureSDF or another SDF plug-in can free us from this hell

That isn't even how Dreams renders its SDFs
