My new cheap AAA workflow.
I did it. :D Took me a really long time, but I was able to figure out a cheap workflow for art that looks great and is not AI. :D

And the best part is that It takes my cheapest 3D worklow and only adds 20-30 minutes more to my 45 minute modelling workflow and 15 minutes to use xBR to upscale the texture and make the toon shader.

:D

Good job, anon. Looking very cute, especially the blue haired character gives me PS1 JRPG vibes or something in that direction. Are you going to create a game with these assets or do you have other intentions with them?
Also which software do you use?

the goal is making my own games in godot.

I mostly use aseprite, blender, unionbytes, pixelover and Krita for this.

>Making games in Godot
Well, you are on a good start. The models look really promising.

Never heard of Unionbytes and Pixelover before. I did a quick research and they seem to be handy tools to have for Low poly/Pixel art games indeed. In the past I tried creating a pixel shader in Blender to then render images and import them into a sprite sheet lol. So much time and effort went into to this ... and then I abandoned the project I created it for ...

pixelover is fucking amazing, because It saves all the headache of dealing with rendering a 3D model in pixel art.

unionbytes is handy because it saves like 30 minutes setting up blender to do pixel art perfect pixel painting.

why do you want a cheap style. isnt this kind of your passion? would be better to spend time making a few quality models that you are proud of

The sad thing is, his 2d art is okay. If he had just spent 15 years practicing that instead of being SHIT at 3d and wasting time showing us and other online communities how ugly he is and how ugly his work is, he could be rich.

I just figured out how to texture using Krita and the stencil feature.

because a videogame needs a massive amount of assets.

I don't know what you are talking about ...

>>1016200
Cute model. The improved details are bringing the character to life. I like the contrast of colors and the outline too. The animation could use some tweaking, because there is some clipping going on. But besides that it's a good job.

Will you eventually post more assets from the game you are making? For example furnished rooms or environments with other characters etc.
I would like to see the models in context.

Btw what kind of game is it? My first guess would be an RPG?

>Do you have finished renders
My goal is to have something like this render in godot.

I was lacking was a cheap method to have the 2D HD art for some cutscenes.

yes but a game made with fewer high quality assets will look better than a vast game full of slop.

spend the time caring about each asset and you will get faster and producing high quality stuff.

my goal is give a reason for the quality diference between the MC and the npcs.

Are you familiar with style mashups shows like panty and stocking, harvey birdman attorney at law, drawn together, the amazing world of gumball?
Anonymous No.1016370 >>1016384
>>1016355
yes but the difference is that all of those still look good. and none of them (expect for a few characters in gumball) are 3d when animating you make simpler characters so you dont have trouble redrawing them all the time. with 3d you better make the character look good because you will see it a lot.

yeah you'll never measure up to a full team.
but would you rather make 5 subpar models in the same time it takes a full team to make them. or spend that time making just one model 5 times better than the one you would have quickly made?

This looks very nice already. It's always nice to see peoples progress in various projects. Thanks for sharing.

>>1016354
I have to disagree. The visuals are a nice touch to a game, but what matters at the end is the gameplay. Take minecraft as an example ...
If anon were to spend too much time on high quality stuff, he would barely make any progress as a single developer. I have been there too. You seem to underestimate how much work developing a good game is, especially if you are a beginner or at least haven much experience in the many skillsets that are required, like modelling, texturing, animating, coding, compositing and what not.

a single good model is useless to me.

I need at least 10 models + 50 levels + 20 npcs + 50 props.
