A hilariously understated fact is that even if you go with someone far removed from your local genetic pool there is always a chance you could match up with a partner who shares markers that you can end up with just by sheer bad luck and result in a botched pregnancy, or a downs baby that needs to be aborted - it legitimately happens all the time.

Make no mistake, the hard sciences and all of Academia as a whole, DOES in fact suffer from not just political brainrot but CURRENT THING-ism despite pretending to be so far above it.
I know a brilliant guy, we've been best friends for like 15 years now, he wanted to be a physicist and was extremely into the hard math of it all, not the fancy shit but the (normally boring) tedious math part.
Long story short, he got a taste of academia where (admittedly small, but decisively) his work as a student was stolen by a rather famous professor in the field, despite promising to put his and his fellow students names on the paper.
Sabine Hossenfelder has a couple videos on youtube explaining her experience which lines up almost perfectly, this isn't an exception it's the standard in academia. It's a mill to get grant money.
