Exactly one year ago today, Daily Neon Genesis Evangelion began (well, technically it started on June 8th with a flipped version of the first chapter, but the original OP restarted 2 days later). As of yesterday, we've finally done all of the official Eva manga in English with available scans. To wrap things up, and to say goodbye, I'm doing one final thread for Kiyohiko Azuma's Evangelion doujins. He did 4 in total, but only 3 of them appear to have been translated.

Evangelion breasts have always been flexible when it comes to their size. I think SIRP did quite well in maintaining a consistent size across time (e.g. Hikari here >>279576477 looks appropriately sized for her bikini here >>279575422) even if I'd say they swapped the measurements for Asuka and Rei around

Even the show was kind of fucky about Asuka and Rei. You had that joke scene which clearly shows Rei to be the bustier one, but you also had Magma Diver with its thermal expansion gag. And in the show's non-fanservice scenes or EoE they clearly draw Asuka to be the thicker one.

My theory is that most animators veered towards slenderness with Rei because she's supposed to look really fragile, and that's hard to reconcile aesthetically with a curvier body type, while they were far more willing to veer towards thickness with Asuka who is supposed to be an absolute gigastacy.

Those are all perfect examples of what I mean about them being 'flexible' when it came to size.

I think there's also a strong element of the viewpoint affecting their size (e.g. Asuka's breasts are larger than their typical size (with the viewpoint being from Shinji's perspective) during the "Walls of Jericho" scene, and much smaller when she's exposing herself to Kaji (with the viewpoint being from his perspective), similarly Rei appears bustier when Shinji falls on top of her, and less busty when she's floating in the Reiquarium when Gendo and Ritsuko are discussing the dummy plug system.

And all that's without going into the fact that Sadamoto tends to drawing everyone as quite thin but with a length to their proportions (e.g. Misato tends to have a long torso, Asuka's legs are always a significant proportion of her height) which gives everyone an almost greyhound like slenderness.

Do you ever have that moment where you realize you could have done your thesis on a topic like this if you'd just picked the right major?

The SIRP parody story was a favorite of mine.

The best thing about SIRP probably wasn't even all the tits and ass, but rather seeing Asuka go from being a desperate contender for the Shinjibowl to basically becoming a matchmaker for Shinji and Rei. It's just such a heartwarming character development arc for her.
