Poems are one thing, you can interpret them in different ways because of their vagueness. Kubo did make it clear Ichigo is pained by Rukia's absence in the early FB chapters even though he brushes it aside by lying to himself. Look at the circumstances where Ichigo and Rukia spent a lot of time together: when Rukia gave Ichigo her powers, when Ichigo saved Rukia, the Aizen incident, etc. TYBW is where Rukia completed her character arc of becoming a ful fledged member of the Gotei 13 and was acknowledged by Byakuya, and thus it makes sense why Rukia fought alongside her Gotei allies rather than Ichigo's group, is only at the end where the rest of the shinigami are down that Rukia and Renji head to help Ichigo.

Basically, it's the circumstances around them that force Ichigo and Rukia to interact, and outside of those there's really no need for them to see each other all the time since they literally live in different worlds. This does not diminish or "flanderizes" their bond and friendship.

Ichigo's relationship with Rukia is the foundation of the story, and even though they get less time after the first arc, their moments are still very memorable. She is the character with the second most scree time for a reason. Not to mention Kubo referenced the first chapter in his last, because thematically Death and the Strawberry is what set out the journey in the first place. How does that not qualify as 'bedrock'? It's not like I claim the manga is solely about them, since they have their separate struggles they deal with.

Not him, but if you really think that you need to lay off that defective crack or drink Bleach unironically. I was fine with Nardo ships mostly because I didn't care about them and the mangaka kept them on the background for the most part, but Sasuke and Sakra is probably one of the worst relationships in fiction period. It doesn't work thematically, or by having buildup, or even by the characters showing any kind of chemistry or empathy. Ichigo and Rukia stopped being "equals" once he entered Soul Society. I also don't think their dynamic was anything to write home about if you've read other manga with a male MC and female sidekick friendship before, like Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball.

Ichigo and Rukia are the perfect dynamic. Rukia and Renji will never be as popular and Rukia's relationship with Byakya is barely talked about. Rukia and Renji don't clash or have interesting interactions with their similar personality types making it flatline and boring. Byakya brings out the Orihime in Rukia which ruins her character.
