The key to any harem, and indeed any show in general is a good protagonist. Shows like Colour Wars, Busou Shoujo, and Trinity Seven are all elevated because they have a fun and compelling protag for the girls to play off of. The vast majority of current harem shit is adapted from webnovels and LNs aimed at preteen boys with a protga on their wavelength, the type of limp-dicked pathetic beta who shies away from female contact, and it's the kiss of death for a show before it's even begun.

You tell something with an actual story and the harem doesn't really need such immediate resolution if any at all. There's quite a few things that make it work. And I've mentioned them often. But to reiterate, the simple fact that it actually seems to care about being a story with characters is a huge advantage. The MC has a clear goal personality and arc. He's humble but not a wimp and will heroically fight for his people. The girls then are actually attracted to his valorous traits rather than the generic "niceness" or simple gestures you see all to often. And then there's the matter of the girls themselves where instead of just lusting for MC cock have actual personalities, goals and chemistry not just with Tigre but with each other as well. The anime tells a complete story.arc that while having obvious sequel bait still covers a complete narrative in terms of the brune civil war and a satisfying heroes journey and can, somewhat solidly, stand as its own thing. Though I do wish we got more seasons. Plus it also covers a unique sub genre, in epic war fantasy that's in itself tragically under explored, So you have all of that and you end up with a series that's unique among it's contemporaries and enjoyable.
