This show is fucking awesome.
Like, they take this stereotypical genki girl, and the catch seems to be that Azu finds her annoying at first but they end up getting along, and thatʼs it, but they actually use her personality to point out how some people struggle to make friends both because that personality and because of past experiences (in this case, Yuinaʼs best friend prior to this being her late grandpa).
It seems so simple and almost obvious in hindsight, but you donʼt get such a well writen genki very often.
When Chocoʼs story unfolded I was surprised with how well it managed to both explain her silly attitude most of the time while giving her a sad background, but I was skeptical about Yuina. I didnʼt exoected them to deliver a good story for her, and they shut my mouth.
Truly the hidden gem of the season… and the whole year, probably.
