What are some of your favorite art styles in anime/manga and why? I really like Kotha Hirano's artwork for Hellsing, the stylized proportions mixed with the heavy inking, overall dark aesthetics and stylish character designs gives it a fairly unique look compared to most other action seinen out there
>>279604591 (OP)MEh...hellsing is full of "le crazy face" and weird faces/eyes.
>>279604591 (OP)Hellsing Ultimate has better artstyle
I really like Nagabe, I just wish 99% of what he draws wasn't literally gay furry porn
The Arms Peddler.
For similarly reasons, heavy contrasts with dark backgrounds, though a lot more gritty, horror-like.
>>279604591 (OP)I really like the one in Great Teacher Onizuka. Wish more current day anime was like this instead of 50% of the character being eyes.
>>279604591 (OP)Early Witch Hat Atelier looked incredible. The art downgraded to a shoujo ish artstyle afterwards but there are still interesting compositions. A shame the current arc is such a slog. I wonder if itโll become more popular than Frieren once the anime adaptation airs.
>>279604624Sounds like a real struggle there, hope you get over it soon.
>>279606555I don't think it has any chance of that, Frieren hit all the right buttons at the right time to captivate fantasy normoid audiences. Still cute witches should have no issue grabbing eyeballs, and the boring festival is too far in to worry about.
>>279604591 (OP)Tsukumizu's art style is probably my all time favorite
>>279604591 (OP)Casshern Sins or anything by Umakoshi pre boku no hero
>>279604591 (OP)Great unique aesthetics
Nice backgrounds when they're focused on
Fantastic details on close up shots
Soft and fluffy feel like you can touch it
another similar hirano artstyle
I love the dark and grimy atmosphere Hayashida Q conveys
>>279604591 (OP)For similar reasons to yours for Hirano, I really like Yasuhiro Nightow's art. His action scenes can get a bit cluttered and hard to follow at times but the man has a great eye for impactful shots and poses.
>>279610890Looking for Magical Doremi looked fantastic though. Made me wish he regularly did character designs.
Yasuomi Umetsu's expressions are the best
>>279604591 (OP)Oh Taisho!/Great!. I've followed his career in manga and hentai for a great long while just like Hirano, Rei Hiroe, Nightow and Norihiro Yagi. His detailing is superb for an artist who originally started his career just to pay back pachinko debt.
I love Ikegami's incredibly attractive people.
>>279604591 (OP)was never able to find out why i like the things i like. i just do
Probably Ookubo. He was incredibly consistent with his art in his weekly manga releases. Ookubo's stylistic art was always dynamic and creative. Also really memorable character designs which is a plus
I love Masami Yuki's style, particularly the way he draws clothes (especially tucked shirts) and hair (shiny).
Hiroaki Samura is my favorite character designer. I like how he's able to make very ugly characters beautiful and very beautiful characters off-putting.
Aesthetically, Takehiko Ito takes the cake. Clothes, spaceships, weapons and technology, vehicles... incredible facial expressions and colors, too. He's good at making his messy style look clean. (Whoever did the coloring for the Outlaw Star anime also deserves an award).
For something different in this thread, I adore Mozocry and Dowman Sayman's artstyles.
