It's a term used by people who are mad that money got put into an anime they don't like but don't want to admit that that's the reason they're mad.

There is nothing wrong with animation having animation. Its always a shame when money gets put into slop and not good stuff, but that's just life.

/a/ is an elite board and as such concerned with quality in all forms. A thing should be good in addition to having animation. If you were an elite animator, you'd take lots of factors into account when animating. It's common sense. As far as buzzwords go, it's on the tamer side because it's pointing out a thing is bad when it's not good.
>b-but things should be praised for merely having animation
If you think that, it's time to go to reddit where you can and do praise things for mediocrity. This is 4chin. There's standards.

The consequences of lazy writing and storyboarding. It's mainly a tv anime problem because tv anime is so wasteful with its runtime, there's tons of dialogue heavy fluff where there's no action to animate that even the animation becomes filler. Also shitty action scenes where instead of coming up with something visually interesting that moves the story forward it's a fucking "battle void" where everyone flails in the air for a while before there's any real development.

I think the issue with using lots of animation frames for random scenes is that they lead to bad incentives.
Unless you are working on a high-budget movie, you won't get those frames for EVERY scene. So you may feel like you need to "make them count" by adding random wobbly motions instead of just sticking to subtle and natural ones. This leads to trash like >>279620631.
The OP webm has a lot more animation frames than most Monogatari scenes, but they're used for a dynamic movement that actually benefits from them.

This. We don't need 20 minutes of someone picking up chopsticks. The 18 minute enter scene from demon slayer is a good example. Half the episode was him walking 3 feet

forced animation is when a team tries to make something above their skill level resulting in a badly animated, akward scene. retards call it forced because they are unable to understand the world outside of easilu digestible buzzwords

because they often do it for a comedic purpose or simply for exaggeration, and rarely via adding additional frames per second. the motion tries to have the least bit of metaphorical sense.
in short, they know what they are doing, unlike some of the examples itt

I don't know how you'd quantify it but it basically boils down to too many unnecessary movements. The example you've replied to is still borderline OK. It will probably look jarring in context since I'd assume the rest of the show doesn't have animation this detailed for menial movements but I never watched the anime so I can't tell.

They have those regulations for TV releases, where there's a limit to the level of changes in color that you can have within a certain timeframe, which is why you'd often have those scenes that are just darker when it airs on TV, but as far as I know BD releases and the like aren't affected by that. No idea if that scene aired on TV or not. It does certainly feel slightly uncomfortable.

Dayum, this one is more like forced kino. "Ironic" "so bad it's good" animation just shows the animators have already given up and didn't even bother to try to make their anime looks good.
