The intention is probably to use their abyssal warp trick to bring a bunch of demonized giants to Maryjois and completely roll whoever is attacking it- whether that's Dragon or Blackbeard or someone else.

For all we know Akainu might have snapped after verifying that yes, the Celestial Dragons intend to destroy the entire world outside of Maryjois. Including the Marines.

Regardless of who is attacking, things in Elbaf can't be left half finished- they want Elbaf to capitulate entirely, because presumably whatever control Imu has over the giants could be just as easily overturned. Imu needs a 'legitimate' government to appear in the form of a king or co-rulers that Imu approves of, which can then sign a contract 'willingly'. In that case, that demonic contract might become irreversible.

So yeah, Imu and the God's Knights are on task, so to speak. Whoever is attacking the Holy Land, Imu needs some more firepower in order to drive them back.

The thing about Paramecia is that it's way too broad a category. Strictly speaking, the only thing that really separated Logias from Paramecias is that Logias were much more strictly defined.

Consider this: Katakuri's Devil Fruit power is that he turns his body into mochi.The reason he can freely manipulate the shape of his body is because of the innate properties of mochi. Among Devil Fruits, there are a handful of Paramecias and Zoans that change your body's chemical properties. For instance, the Phoenix Zoan that Marco consumed also changed his body's properties into phoenix fire. Of course, he can't freely manipulate his shape like a Logia or Katakuri can, but the fact remains that he's literally made out of magic fire now. This same principle applies to Luffy. The chemical composition of Luffy's body is LITERALLY rubber, hence why he's immune to electricity. The reason he can't freely reshape his body is because his body's composition doesn't allow for that.

Mr. 3's Paramecia doesn't transform his body, it lets him create things. Same with that slime guy. Also, given the way that Devil Fruits work, there's probably a Paramecia out there that literally turns your body into wax just like Mr. 3's. There's no real set standard for Devil Fruits. Their character premises were vague and flexible so Oda could easily use them for whatever purpose he deemed necessary and throw them away when he was done with them.
