It’s not. Well. It is. But. Like. You’re only allowed a maximum of three spells. You aren’t GUARANTEED to get a good one. Even if you DO get a good one, it could take forever to cast. Some spells are a simple word. Others are full sentences. If a spell is good enough, it can one shot a person of equivalent level, so this is why some spells take so long to get off. If this wasn’t enforced, then what would be the point of combat? Guns beat swords due to the ability to (more or less) erase close quarter combat. A buff knight is not going to win against the feeble old man with the shotgun. It’s overwhelming application.

People take years to get to lvl 2, and usually don't start off with any magic. So it's a hard filter.

If you're asking why Magic does a lot of damage is that its proportional to mind and cast time thats why a lot of mages are back liners cause they're literally the artillery of the group

it's a fair trade I don't understand the complaint besides most are lucky to learn a spell let alone someone like Riveria who takes years to get to her level not to mention MAX spells are 3 for any Falna user

If most combatants are still melee regardless of the overwhelming advantage that magic gives, then it sounds like being a mage takes a lot of dedication, talent, skill and/or genetic superiority. Either way, this means mages earned their win so it's not a problem.

The strongest mage is a human, though. Her spells are like one word. Her memory is so good she can copy one’s attack patterns perfectly after watching them one time. So even if she’s physically weaker she can copy a master warrior’s moves. She also btfo’d both Riveria and Gareth.

This is assuming the spell isn’t some pre-cast buff, or game changer, like Ais’ Arial, or Bete’s Hati. Fire-and-forget spells tend to fizzle out.

It was actually shit for the elves. Their spells sucked. So people resorted to making pacts with spirits. Spirits were way better at magic than the elves, even without falna. A greater spirit lending itself to a person is the equivalent of a level 6-7 giving a random person their powers.

Poorly. The mortal races put a lid on the labyrinth long ago which the first gods who descended accidentally broke. Which led them to give the blessings to the races as an apology so they (mortals) can fix it. But I think Eina has said elves and dwarves without blessings can maybe do level 1 floors if theyre careful
