Cross-dressing prince isn't isekai but like you guys mentioned it's basically just doing the fantasy equivalent of a Call of Duty create-a-class system just grabbing well-worn fantasy motifs to do stuff we've seen before. Villainess isekai in general was novel because it came from basically one boomer that remembered how popular Angelique was and that the rival girl was so popular she got her own spinoff/playable routes in other entries, along with the whole concept of an otome game having a rival female MC to the MC as a secondary conflict in play. But we're well past "someone uses old media as inspiration for something new" we're at "someone using currently popular media to make a carbon copy of that popular thing." As an ironic aside the recent Angelique games straight up incorporated isekai(of both the MC and her rival) as a plot element.
Fightan manga at least comes from a very specific fixation. Outside of the technical dives it wouldn't be too different if Ejima was writing about a shooter like COD or Splatoon or even Quake, or a MOBA, or an MMO.
So why is food so prevalent? It's because so many manga authors' frames of reference, or their editors', have atrophied so much they're dependent on just copying popular series, the only thing these people got going on in their lives outside of that is eating food. Something like Dungeon Meshi worked because there was a lot of detail put into cooking fantasy creatures but too many series these days are basically just one step from trying to depict a small anime girl trying to inhale an Italian beef and using it to imagine performing cunnilingus on the girl she likes.

Manga/anime writers need to experience more shit and consume all kinds of different media to be better writers. We should crowdfund sending yuri mangaka to lesbian brothels.
