Unironically his more brash and to the point attitude is a good thing now that Liko, Roy and Dot are the more methodical mature ones. And in spite of his his attitude he is at least as capable a battler as Roy and Liko are based on how he's performed up to this point meaning he isn't a liability. He also brings out the more mature side of Roy through contrast. As far as I'm concerned he's one of the better characters introduced in the series.
