Way to prove my point. RIP Anime 1962-2009.

Anime is dead. Anime remains dead. And we have killed it. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers of 2D waifus? What was most moe and most powerful of all that Akihabara has yet owned has bled out under our CGI: who will wipe this digital blood from our dakimakuras? What sacred washing machine cycles are there to cleanse our figma collections? What Comiket booths of atonement, what idol concerts shall we have to invent? The LuckyStar of our golden age has set forever - is not the greatness of this deed too great for us otaku? Must we ourselves not become seiyuu simply to appear worthy of having witnessed the end of hand-drawn animation?
For after Haruhi Suzumiya danced her last dance in 2009, after the moeblob consumed KyoAni’s budget, after CGI replaced the loving hand that once drew each frame of Azumanga Daioh—what remains but the eternal return of the same isekai truck-kun, over and over, world without end?

Anime died in the late '70s when nu-Anime was born.

More like 2015 or so. There's MAYBE one decent show a year ever since.

Also, the early 2010s were some of the best years for anime. I'd argue you couldn't find a better 3 years than 2010-2012 except maybe 2006-2009.

Early 2010's were pretty good, disproving OP's thesis and bias. But I draw the line at 2013.

No, that's when anime was born.
It died in 2017.

I think any sense that anime still has a semblance of its sold self intact went out the window when Lycosis Recoil released. OP is right. It really did end in 2009. It was the sweet spot where it was becoming popular but not mainstream. Late 10's it became official.

Problem is, OP doesn't believe it. Why else would he hover around these threads trying so hard to manufacture consensus?

I don't think anime is dead, but the souls and minds of people who heavily use the internet are dead inside, and this pretty much ruins everything for them including anime.

Not trying to manufacture consensus but I do believe it's a viewpoint shared by many anons on this board. You can trace back the immense fall in quality and output along with the health of the fandom to the early 2010's thus anime, industry and fandom alike, "died" back in '09.

Just watch old anime then. Even if you put the cutoff at 2009 there is a lifetime of stuff to catch up on.

What if you've exhausted everything? I've modded my current copy of w11 to look like windows xp and only listen to music and engage with media that is pre-2010. i am in a bubble and very comfortable in it. but i do get stuck rewatching stuff.
Anonymous No.279647416 [Report]
Nope. BNHA killed anime in 2016, and then Onimai revived it in 2023.

Lucky Star is moeshit because of Minoru Shiraishi. He's too moe for me

That's why I don't take online opinions at face value, especially those from extremely online people who never get off the internet. Too many times I've heard how "bad" something is only to find out it was never bad at all.
