Most Uchiha weren't using their eyes properly. If they abused the Mangekyo, if they had it, they would go blind. Most others were using forbidden jutsu and become blind. Meanwhile the Senju were natural powerhouses without mental issues and Hashirama grew to be such a broken character that he could change the landscape with his techniques. The Sharingan can't keep up past a certain point. Madara needed the boosted Mangekyo and control over Kurama to try to keep up with him 1v1 meanwhile Hashirama was able to solo most shit with his wood. But as you can see with Tobirama, the Senju could do a lot of crazy shit. Most of what he did was to kill Uchihas efficiently.

Its legacy is that is has some of the highest highs in fiction despite being written weekly. People keep forgetting this. It's a weekly written/drawn series, Kishimoto took virtually no breaks, and yet it still turned out as well realized as it ended up being. It's thematically coherent from start to finish, addresses legitimately tough questions, probably has the biggest flock of memorable antagonists whose motives you can't find a whole lot of fault in, has ridiculously good art for being weekly (especially the clean as fuck spreads until the very end), makes itself feel like an actual journey through the lives of a whole people and had an insanely satisfying conclusion.

Kishimoto also had the balls to do downright insane things to drive home his point, like Naruto allowing himself to be pummeled post Pain arc and having a heart attack, juxtaposing the almighty image he had after defeating Nagato. Kishi castrated his protagonist to show that despite being all powerful physically, he still can't solve the issues he wants to fix cause they can't be fixed through having power alone.

As far as weekly series go there is nothing and there likely will never be anything as good as it again. That's its legacy.

Somewhat? Akatsuki is iconic, they're pretty underused in the grand schemes of things though. As for motivations, some are great, others less so, it's overall pretty solid I'll give you that.

Most Uchiha don't even have Sharingan. There was probably higher incidence of it emerging back in the warring clans era because of survivorship bias. If you had the eyes, then you were more likely to survive. Simple as. Still, in most cases Sharingan is just really good visual acuity to the point of near-precognition. Mangekyou was so rare that it was largely thought to be a myth or freak mutation for much of their history, and those that did obtain it still went blind in the end until Madara figured out how to use someone else's eyes as spares. It was also stated by Itachi that there was a high chance of failure among those who tried to obtain the MS and EMS, with clansmen killing each other or trading eyes and it just not working.
There's a reason most of the Uchiha just chose to focus on improving their fundamentals and fire style techniques. They had a natural affinity for the latter and the former gained greater boons from their visual ability than most people. By comparison, the Senju were sturdy motherfuckers, numerous, and with a wide array of techniques they'd developed as a result of there being so many of them. They were a dominant force for a reason. When your main rivals' biggest advantage is that some number of them can see really well, you can close the gap with technical prowess and numbers.

I like these. Even when I was a kid I didn't like naruto, when I was buying jump at shoprite it didn't hold my interest at all. Its just... bad.
