I guess this is a young people issue. Usually the older an anime fan get the wider its scope becomes and starts enjoying anime from different time periods. I was 19 when the first Fullmetal Alchemist was all the rage and Haruhi became my bible for a long time but eventually I started watching a lot of the anime I missed when I was a kid because TV only had the Dragon Ball/Sailor Moon and a few other gems. I think it's immature to stick only to a single decade of shows.

The girls suck, save for Ami. I can’t think of anything more silly than trying to indirectly push a guy you like to help your friend when said friend can benefit from a platonic relationship with the guy you like. Agree with you about her guilt, it was the dumbest trait about her that I couldn’t tolerate. I actually did enjoy the tone of it and could find the characters tolerable at times, which is more than what most can say for an anime romcom. And somewhat irrational is an understatement, they act borderline retarded at times for the sake of contrived drama. When I was in high school 5 years ago, one time during lunch one of the special needs kids with actual autism was going around the cafeteria showing everyone a picture on his phone saying it was his wife. He finally got around to mine, it was a picture of Taiga. I pretended to not know what it was and said "she looks a little young," he had a little arm wavy sperg out and moved on to the next table. I'll never be able to disassociate Taiga and this show from that ugly ass autist with the giant mole on his face. I haven't watched the show since not even during the yearly Christmas rewatch, can't read any doujins either. That's why I hate Toradora.

Little can match the cuteness of a girl who becomes embarrassed and huffy when you catch her in a vulnerable moment, one in which her pride or self-dishonestly vacates to reveal her true feelings.
