>light novel series
>the manga adaptation is better

Why is this always the case?

It's not, even if there are some examples of it.

Some authors will reflect upon their work and fix problems.
Having another creator and another editor involved can also help.

LNs are never good
It's the manga originals that are actually worth reading

Bypasses the author's shitty narration and attempt at wit.

LNs are deliberately padded out, so any adaptation is better

Rule of thumb:
Novels >>> LNs and manga (both on the same tier).
That’s why the writing and dialogue in Shoushimin, Hyouka, and Shinsekai Yori completely mog most anime adapted from LN and Manga. Orb and The Apothecary Diaries don’t even come close, with their dry ass, sauceless, on-the-nose dialogue. You need real writers, autistic people who’ve been writing seriously since birth.

Better yet, go read a fucking book. And by book, I mean a traditional novel. Japanese authors are especially good when it comes to the mystery genre.

Anyway, make sure to check out this show when it airs: Kusunoki no Bannin (The Camphorwood Custodian) by Higashino Keigo. It’s based on a novel too.
