I'm a little shocked at how boring this turned out. Like I'm genuinely less impressed with it then I was Red Hood. There's some really boring personalities on display and the world itself doesn't feel very interesting either. This author seems a little too obsessed with making an RPG adventure type manga.

It was established in the chapter that the villagers didn't even have food and mead, i.e. they're poor. Destitute peasants don't have the money to just move wherever they want. They also didn't know or expect that anyone was coming to help them, hence why they had agreed to just go raid the neighboring village to save their own.
