hmm, did we joke about Happy Mary Ending? Can't remember.
In any case, I'm more of a Shihoru man than a Yume man, if you know what I mean.

A bunch of teenagers got isekai'd in a fantasy world and lost most of their memories. They were somewhat forced to join the mercenaries - oh sorry, auxiliary troops - and to kill monster in order to survive - with a caveat. Some spells can only protect up to 8 peoples (I think), so after the leader types picked the best of the newcomers, they ended up with a bunch of rejects, MC's party, that struggled with killing a single goblin.
That's basically the introduction.

I recall it being really good. Like actually trying to capture what it would be like being transported to another world and struggling to kill just a hand full of simple creatures like goblins. I also remember it kind of being the victim of having a non-ending.

The backgrounds are really nice, the weight of the actions are good, and the worldbuilding is pretty cool.
I like that they cremate people because of the No Life King
But man the later LNs are just not good >>279737541
The two physically fit dudes are certainly immediately a cut above the rest.

Someone tell me about the LN
Does it get revealed that they are inside a simulation or game or whatever? iirc there are "flashes" of old memories in the anime but they are never expanded upon or explained
Im just so fucking invested in not the actual story but the setting.>>279728655 (OP)

I like it a lot because of this too. But even just the bit of content covered in the anime the MC already started getting too powerful and showing signs of chosen-one energy. We can more or less imagine the rest, the party genuinely won't struggle with much anymore, the MC will become increasingly powerful and save the world from some catastrophic demon king or something. I think it was great as is, just a little morsel of an adventure story about some kids struggling until they can stand on their own, and they struggled to the end but we're left knowing they'll be okay from then on.
>live in a fantasy world with magic, skills, and the ability to summon people from other worlds >can't resurrect your healer for 50g at the local temple
Shit world building.

I really liked the day to day things they did to make ends meet, there's a whole part about how they stretch their money as far as possible. Like when Moguzo gets a head injury and starts fighting defensively to not have it happen again, they buy some old helmet and have it refitted which is cheaper than a brand new one.

I remember people trying very hard to convince everyone it was great because it looked artsy and le sad death early on, it was as generic and dull as possible.
Grimgar was great until MC unlocked instakill crit skill, completely running against the entire tone of the series.
The series couldn't keep it's own dick in it's pants and ABSOLUTELY HAD to devolve into the same low effort pandering tropes isekai is known for.
