Has Anno become a conservative?
Rebuild of Evangelion is basically:
>Make peace with your family (even if they traumatized you)
>Be useful to society (find a job)
>Get married and reproduce (even if you're gay)

having a job and being happy is conservative

Those aren't exclusive to conservatism.

Becoming a salaryman and following social norms/models is conservative. I'm not saying it's bad tho. But from an artistic point of view it's certainly not subversive.

But for the context of Evangelion it's quite conservative.

For me what really "elevates" this particular take on picrel is that Shinji, unlike your typical isekai protagonist, was not even returning to HIS old world, nor could he truly know the world before impact at all, yet when he personally created the new world into whatever he could imagine he chose salaryman life.

Having a job, getting married and having a family is not conservative. Associating happiness with a job, getting married and having a family it is. And that's what RoE does.

The stability and comfort of salaryman life, even if it's not always stable or comfortable in reality, probably seemed like heaven compared to what he was used to.

>salaryman
Do other stable jobs not exist in Japan or something?

the message of evangelion is to love yourself despite your flaws and to overcome the cycle of trauma

end of evangelion did not spell it clearly enough for normies so they literally beat you over the head with everyone having a happy ending by living a happy life

yes have children reproduce for the love of god try to be happy and get out of your own damn way

you think this is a conservative position because leftists are either poor, childless, or gay/trooned

I just think Anno is spiteful. He used to also be resentful along with spiteful and that made him ambitious. Now he's just arrogant and spiteful and that makes him complacent.

The worst part of the rebuilds is that they derailed the entire story to go full grimdark with 3.33 completely destroying all of Shinji's relationships and making all his sacrifices in the first two films completely pointless, and then didn't even have the balls to commit to it in the finale.

After 14 years of separation, if they ever had feelings for each other they're gone forever. He gave her as close to a normal life as he could to apologize to her, by returning her to earth free of angelic contamination to live a life with Kensuke.
