Ok, that actually sounds kinda neat, like Kino no Tabi or Mushishi or Sonny Boy but applied to isekaishit, allowing to basically explore different alternate realities or universes, having the MC with a semi-contemporary mindset facing medieval, future, magical settings, etc. I recall a short sci-fi story from a book with a similar idea

I don't really think it is possible to stay away from literally all clichés, but the first (second) death and reincarnation could be at the end of first volume so expectations about it being a regular isekai are subverted. With that the clichés will just be like in any other regulae isekai, without the cynicism of satire.

I think the main issue would be the cast being reset with every death, it would bloat the characters out and make it hard for people to get invested in any of the characters.
Unless you have it so the isekai characters are also carried over to the new world, just fitting into the aesthetics of the new world. Like in the fantasy world the big bad evil guy is a demon lord, but then in cowboy isekai he's a notorious bandit, and then in the sci fi universe he's an alien emperor. So the MC has to keep working towards thwarting the villain while jumping through the different worlds, and meeting a reoccurring cast of characters that also adapt to the new worlds.

As someone who doesn't keep up with modern anime, I don't really get all the isekai talk, and I find it strange that I almost never see names of series being discussed, it's always just about isekai as an genre.

That reminds me of Abenobashi mahō shōtengai except for the dying part

isekai with the MC reincarnating in multiple worlds after dying but each world increasingly turns more and more surreal with the characters acting more bizarre around the MC, almost if they are aware of all of his reincarnations, hinting that the MC may slowly be experiencing omniscience as the fabric of reality is tearing apart with each death.

I have a similar idea. "Isekai Purgatory". A NEET addicted to isekai series kills himself thinking he would be sent to another world.
Instead, he is sent to hell where Satan sentences him to keep reincarnating into other worlds as he wanted, but in awful conditions and circumstances. respawning in yet another world everytime he dies again, leaving anyone he would have grown to care behind.
